12 Dec 01 - 02:09 PM (#608495) Subject: NICK & CHRISTINES CHRISTMAS BASH From: GUEST,Raggytash As some of you may know the Wombat & I have a do between Christmas and New year each year on the 28th of December. This used to be a Mad Buggers do but over the years has transformed into a fund raiser for the Runswick Bay Rescue Boat, (Registered Charity No 1014544). This year we will gather in Milnsbridge Liberal Club on the evening of FRiday 28th December about 7.30 ish. The session is a free and easy and musical or vocal contributions are warmly appreciated by the assembled company. All Catters are welcome as are any Shellbacks out there, the more the merrier, the beer is cheap the company is good and if you let us know you'r coming we put on a supper back at our house normally the infamous/ Internationally acclaimed (deleted as appropriate) Pea & Ham Soup. We have a raffle or sometime an auction and a whip round for the boat, which is entirely reliant on voluntary contributions not being supported by the RNLI (I'll have explanatory hand-outs about) and all donations are given the the Runswick Bay Boat. Please let us know if you can make it, we'd be delighted to see loads of you. |

But any posting referring to Mad Buggers, a Runswick Bay Rescue Boat, a "Milnsbridge Liberal Club", and somebody named Wombat, is so clearly in Australia that no clarification is necessary... W-O |

14 Dec 01 - 03:29 PM (#609875) Subject: RE: NICK & CHRISTINES CHRISTMAS BASH From: Tig No you are not alone!!!
Unfortunately it doesn't look as though we will be able to make your excellent fundraising effort this year due to the fact daughter has to work - and we have to get her there, even if I'm allowed to walk up that slippery hill by then.
If there's any change to this I'll let you know. Have a great Christmas and carry on the good work. I approve of raising money for such charities whilst having a damn good time. Love to the others, Chris (+ John & Kat)

I'm still not feeling very Christmassy yet what with essays and stuff filling the spare recesses of my brain, but its a lovely idea. Do you want me to circulate the invitation on the Shellbacks' site? Noreen |

14 Dec 01 - 08:35 PM (#610113) Subject: RE: NICK & CHRISTINES CHRISTMAS BASH From: GUEST,Raggytash Noreen, Please circulate the invite on the Shellback site, Didn't even know we had one. The evening, in years past has been great fun, lots of singing, lots of laughs, and at the end of the day some money to a great cause. I've just been given a cheque for £50.00 and £50.00 cash for the fund by a fireman who collects the cans from the Liberal club for recycling. So together with the £26.00 I was donated at my gig last week, we're up to £126.00 already. All being well my company will match anything up to £250. so that's good news. However, the most important part of the night is to have a good time, if we can get some brass, well so much the better, but it is not the be all and end all of the night. If some of the Shellbacks could be present it would be wonderful. Cheers Raggytash |

16 Dec 01 - 07:20 PM (#611233) Subject: RE: NICK & CHRISTINES CHRISTMAS BASH From: Raggytash Hi Noreen, Unfortunetley/unfortuewrtyt/ Sadly I am not computer literate, so things like blue clickies baffle me. I used to have a baffle, but it was in the exhaust of my motorbike. Noreen, if you could either demonstrate how to,or pass on info to the Shellbacks I would be delighted. To give brief resume of events, We gather at Milnsbridge Liberal Club,Huddersfield (01484 652598) good selection of beer, at reasonable prices, less than £1.50 a pint and have a session. In years past we have had a raffle and/or an auction to raise funds for the Runswick Bay rescue Boat, but as I've said in previous threads, that is a bonus, the main idea is to have a good time. The locals are somewhat bemused by our antics, but by and large, respond very positively and are generous with their praise and (for the Rescue Boat) money. My own email is nickscaife @supanet.com, so if anyone wants more info please get in touch. Raggytash |

The Steward of the club will give me a cheque for that amount which will be posted/delivered to Runswick Bay ASAP. All being well, the company I work for JARDINE LLOYD THOMPSON will donate a similar amount. If they do it's worth the plug. Happy New Year to all, may see some of you in Whitby on New Years Eve |
