Janis Ian - holiday reading

I know that there are several Janis Ian fans around here, so let me do everyone a favour and point you all in the direction of some great holiday reading.

On Janis' website is a collection of her features, articles, and other items written for various magazines, and some of them are quite super. You'll love 'Monumental Mistakes', in which you can discover some of the classic jobs she has, in blissful ignorance, turned down – including The Graduate, Woodstock, and Friends!!!

And everyone who owns an instrument really should read 'Of guitars and righteous men'.

I am now, going to attempt, without a parachute or safety belt, a blue clicky:-

but if that doesn't work, it's:- http://www.janisian.com/articles.html

Enjoy!!!

Ian, your link doesn't appear to work, try Janis Ian Website.

Janis Ian has long been a favorite of mine, ever since I saw her perform at Newport Folk Festival. She is gracious, funny, supremely talented musically, plays kick-ass guitar, and unlike some singer-songwriters of similar persuasion, endears herself unfailingly to both gay and straight members of the audience.

The article you mention will touch a chord in the heart of anybody who has ever loved a guitar. I also recommend her piece on "Doing Howard Stern". Required reading for all PC gurus.

Thank you, Murray. I'll use both parachute and safety belt next time.

I was very struck by the fact that once, when I was looking for some data on a song she'd written, I posted a message on her website... and she took the trouble to reply. Seems like one of those people you'd like to meet.

Last time I saw her in concert with Judy Collins and Roger Mcguinn, she mentioned that she always replied personally to her email. I imagine not all performers at her level take the time to do that.

As I said above, a very gracious lady.
