21 Dec 01 - 05:47 AM (#614108) Subject: SoLongForNow-Roger the Skiffler'sLastDay From: catspaw49 I had intended to have a huge retirement oarty, but I am assured that Skiff will be checking in and returning to us so I felt it best to save money on the gold watch and all of that. Here's Skiff's post from another thread: I'll be spending most of today saying goodbye at work (though not many staff still in, so I'm still dealing with all the problems of the few remaining students doing last minute work) so I'll say best wishes to all now, look forward to seeing some of you at Stoney Stratford and I'll try and lurk via the public library occasionally and will probably get online at home some time in the next 12 months and then re-join sans GUEST. RtS (now a SAGA-lout) Skiff, I have enjoyed every contribution you have made here at the 'Cat, every bad joke, every wacko news story you've found, every kazoo you've buzzed, every delivery you've made to the Tavern, and every bedpan you've changed at the NYCFTTS. I'll miss you and I hope all goes well and we see you back here by this time next year. I'm also counting on the occasional check-in just to let us know how you are doing until you return "sans Guest." Congrats on your retirement old friend....Hope the two of you enjoy extra time together and get your lame old ass back here as soon as you can! Spaw |

You never know when the biggest damn Mick you have ever seen will come crashing in to visit you and Mrs. Skiffler. Please hurry back...............I dread thinking about what Spaw will be like without you to provide balance. Mick |

21 Dec 01 - 09:12 AM (#614151) Subject: RE: SoLongForNow-Roger the Skiffler'sLastDay From: Amos Well that settles the staffing problem at NYCFTTS -- Morticia has volunteered. Spaw, show here where the clean bedpan is kept when it's in. Roger, you're a pure-dee classic and your voice will echo 'round here for a long time. You've always reminded me of those show-stopping characters in Shakespeare -- the jester and clown guys who sidle in in the middle of all the smoke and drama and bring the house down with a little oneliner that reminds everyone how real and unserious they really are! Come back soon -- with a Mac, for your sanity's sake!! A. |

Take care - see you back here soon - Steve |
21 Dec 01 - 09:49 AM (#614170) Subject: RE: SoLongForNow-Roger the Skiffler'sLastDay From: MMario I was just thinking about this this morning - as I passed a group of schoolchildren collecting for the Salvation Army - as they played a massed choir of kazoos to what were suppossedly christmas carols. Hurry back! |
21 Dec 01 - 10:01 AM (#614175) Subject: RE: SoLongForNow-Roger the Skiffler'sLastDay From: mooman Good luck Roger, I've always enjoyed your posts and look forward to seeing you again on the Mudcat (and at Stony Stratford I believe). Some people will definitly need training up on the kazoo as replacements, I believe the NYCFTTS vacancy has now been filled (latest on that 'Spaw?). However, I think we have some able stand-ins for the shaggy dog stories and irrelevant but nevertheless fascinating news items! All the very best mooman |

21 Dec 01 - 10:51 AM (#614196) Subject: RE: SoLongForNow-Roger the Skiffler'sLastDay From: Amos Thanks, Morticia!! We know ol' Spaw can count on you when the ..um..."chips" are down. Don't worry -- they're virtual bedpans even if they are a bit fewer than demand requires. :>) It was part of a management initiative from Spaw a few years back called "Healing through Sharing"...never really took off, though! Always remember -- virtuality is its own reward! Love ya! A. |

21 Dec 01 - 11:06 AM (#614207) Subject: RE: SoLongForNow-Roger the Skiffler'sLastDay From: katlaughing While digging through some really old threads the other day, imagine my surprise to see someone posting as "Roger the Zimmer!" Boy, did that spark some memories, what the hell was a zimmer, and how did one zim; then ya went and changed it to skiffler, thinking THAT would make it any clearer! Either one, you've been a grand one to have about and we fully expect to hear from you, upon occasion, esp. more stories about Greece, as I would assume, with retirment, that you will be spending more time there, using your magikazoo to settle all of those beach chair disputes! Anyway, Merry Times to you and Herself and phone home once in a while, please, you will be missed! luvyakat |

Y'know, I thought of you when my work Christmas party degenerated into a kazoo-fest. It sounded so lovely after 6 double vodkas and a couple of glasses of mulled wine. Anyway, best of luck, have a great Christmas, and I'll hopefully meet ya in person at the Stony Stratford |
21 Dec 01 - 12:12 PM (#614236) Subject: RE: SoLongForNow-Roger the Skiffler'sLastDay From: catspaw49 What a tribute Fibs!!! Although perhaps you should have said "ascended" instead. I never knew why he did the Zimmer thing kat, but Skiffler was always much better and truer to form. Anyone like Fibula who meets him anywhere, remind him of how much he'll be missed and give the old fart a hug from me. Spaw |
