22 Dec 01 - 07:15 PM (#615015) Subject: ADDPOP: I Was In Chains (Paul Young) From: Joe Offer Hi, Phil - I'll post the lyrics here, just for the sake of discussion. I don't see the relationship with "She Moved Through the Fair" - how do they fit together? Same tune? I don't know anything about Paul Young. -Joe Offer- I WAS IN CHAINS (Paul Young) I was in chains Chained to my love Lying sleeping Below the silver trees Then up comes Davey and says You must be running boy Now I must fly Now I must fly First to my darling Down in the valley I cried madly Hey, I'm here at your door She says, John, John Now be gone from my door You and your misery I'll taste no more I was in chains And bound for Australia Dreaming wildly About my life before Of my distrust All across the dreadful ocean And of my true love I'll lay no more And of my true love I'll lay no more The future before me |

Just for the record, this song was written by Gavin Sutherland of the Sutherland Brothers and was on their First LP "The Sutherland Brothers Band" released in 1972 (in Oz), one of the all time great LP's of the era. It also has the song called "The Pie" which was released as a single, but in shortened form. Allan |
