It was no big surprise; she had suffered a serious, debilitating illness most of her young life despite the courage of a lioness in rising above it and daring to dream in spite of her frailty and affliction. Yet she was held in much regard and fondness by the entire outfit, and wil Boston: 1849 L. MASON 8s & 7s. Sister, thou wast mild and lovely, Gentle as the summer breeze, Pleasant as the air of evening When it floats among the trees. Peaceful be thy silent slumber, Peaceful in the grave so low; Thou no more wilt join our number, Thou no more our songs shalt know. Dearest Sister, thou hast left us, Here thy loss we deeply feel, but ?tis God that hath bereft us, He can all our sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet thee, When the day of life is fled, Then, in heaven with joy to greet thee, where no farewell tear is shed. ?Written on the death of a young lady, a member of Mount Vernon School, Boston.? Friday Morning, six Infantrymen in full dress Federal blue uniform will bear her remains to their final resting place, where she will recieve full Civil War Military Honors. |
