12 Jan 02 - 12:09 PM (#626624) Subject: folk origin of Hemy's 'Stella' From: Haruo The English Catholic hymn tune Stella (which I used for my little song in praise of Jesus' female ancestors, Ni vin memoras (Foremothers of Christ), not to be confused with my big song on the same topic) is supposedly an English folk tune arranged by Henri Hemy in 1851 for a book entitled Easy Hymns for Catholic Schools. I've only run into it in hymnic contexts, but it sounds familiar. Anybody recognize it and know what its folk text(s) is/are? Liland |
