If you've watched Amercian television advertising, you've likely heard it. If you've listened to any "oldies" American radio station, you've likely heard it. I sincerely hope (for their own sanity) that this is not the case in other countries. I'm not certain, but I think that this song might explain some of the more aberrant behavior of Americans in the last few decades. I almost have the Bay of Pigs fiasco linked to it... M |

It seems that some guy had recorded a bunch of songs under his real name (I forget what is was), and needed one more tune to make a complete album. NaNa Hey Hey was picked, and was supposed to be the worst song on the album. Seems that DJ's liked the song, and it became the hit. The performer was so embarrassed that he invented the name Steam, rather that have his real name associated with it. I got this info from a series of books called Uncle John's Bathroom Readers. A highly recommended set of books for you trivia fans. |
