i just would like to let the dobro fans among you know that my article on josh is in the latest issue(march) of acoustic guitar magazine. we had a great visit in september and this is the result. hope you enjoy it. and i'm sorry to report that josh has had to undergo surgery to remove his remaining leg. he came thru the operation well and if anyone has a spirit deep enough to weather such a thing, it's josh. send him a prayer and if you wish to contribute to his medical expenses i think you might find an address over at the website.

Thanks GUEST,oj. Graves is one of my favorites, has been for forty years at least. I still have an album Josh and Kenny Baker recorded for Dave Samuelson called “Bucktime.” It brings out Graves' singing as well as his playing. Wonderful entertainer.

Josh used to play sometimes at Amazingrace Coffee House on the campus of Northwestern University. Jethro Burns would be there as well. Sometimes he'd get so drunk he could hardly play but we always enjoyed the show.

Friends once told me that, after all the years of playing with Flatt & Scruggs, his stint with the Earl Scruggs Review was the first time he had enough income to even buy a house.

I'll look for your article.

Josh Graves and Kenny Baker were the guest artists at the Alaska Folk Festival a few years ago. I'll tell you, that was one year that the Alaska fiddlers were ecstatic!

I will look up the Jerry Douglas site- sorry that Graves is going through this. I'm assuming he's diabetic?
