I have been told that on Mudcat I can get both lyrics and printed notation. I am especially interested in Irish and Scotch music. Would appreciate any help I can get. All the best! MAry Gail Duffy

at this site , which is a sort of 'mirror' of the DT, you can get various forms of notation.....this is a personal project of the owner...take a look and see if it's what you want

If you are looking for a version of the dt that provides graphic files for printing try Yet Another Digital Tradition. The site seems to be down at the moment BTW.

The Mudcat online version does not provide that but it does provide MIDI sound files which can be used to produce printed music provided you have suitable software (something I thoroughly reccomend getting). Noteworthy Composer is a reasonably priced shareware program that seems to be popular amongst users here that provides printing and editing capabilites.

If by "Irish and Scottish" you were looking for Jigs, reels, etc. rather than tunes to songs, pay a visit to John Chambers Tune Finder it is a superb resource.

MaryGail, you really need to be more specific about what you want regarding tunes and stuff. A Lot of stuff is at the site linked above, but we can usually find other stuff too. What EXACTLY do you want?

If you want printable, playable, music notation, check out the various ABC related sites--converting MIDI files to notation, either with Noteworthy or other notation programs, is a messy process, and requires a lot of tinkering--in the ABC freeware, you just select the notation screen, and you can drag and drop it into graphic and word processor documents-- check this site: (sorry,I can't enter the blue clickie) http://ecf-guest.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/FindTune.html--

Mary Gail - being as it's still morning time here, I don't have any "Scotch" in me, but I do have a wee bit of "Scots" ancestry.
