Subject: Lyrics Needed: John Knew
From: John Pennington

Hello, I am looking for for to an old gospel "John Knew". The only words I can think of are in the chorus naturally they were John Knew. The chorus is sung as an echo. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

The first track is a new cut of the old song "John Knew", originally recorded on their Fallen Leaves album roughly 30 years ago. The 2 cuts are so different in comparison that you can't really put the 2 in the same category. Lets just say that the Primitive Quartet has made great strides in their music quality in the past 35 years. The rest of the song list is:

John Knew
The Precious One
Reaping From Fields I've Never Sown
Didn't He Shine
Dear Jesus, I Love You
Someday
I Love To Walk With Jesus
He's Still Been A Good God To Me

This is a bluegrass gospel song. Transcription from a sample:

John sent two of his disciples to Jesus and told 'em to say:
"Are you the one who is to come, or should we seek another way?"
And when they saw the miracles, they knew without a doubt....

JOHN KNEW
As sung by The Primitive Quartet on "35th Anniversary" (2009)

1. A man known as John the Baptist came preaching the coming of Christ.
Well, he was thrown way down in jail for condemning the king and his wife.
The king came down and talked to John, saying, "John, you can go free.
Just take back all o' the things you said concerning the queen and me."

CHORUS: John knew (John knew), John knew (John knew)
The man he was preaching about.
John knew (John knew), John knew (John knew)
There was not even a doubt.
The lame did walk; the blind did see.
The lepers were healed of their spots.
John knew (John knew), John surely knew,
The man he was preaching about.

2. John sent two of his disciples to Jesus and told them to say:
"Are you the one who is to come, or should we seek another way?"
And when they saw the miracles, they knew without a doubt.
They came back to report to John, "That's the man you're preaching about." CHORUS TWICE
