BS: Stony Stratford Raffle anyone?

I'm happy to run a raffle, if people would like to donate some nice prizes please? Please, no Highland bagpipe records.....

I'll start the ball rolling with some home baked fruitloaf, and some children's videos.

Tickets the usual sort of price £1.00 a strip (that's the tickets, *I* charge much more for a strip..... and even more to keep my clothes ON! Bratling does it for free, so there's no point....), to be drawn Sunday lunchtime?

All proceeds to Mudcat of course.

If everybody brings a prize, just about everybody should up with a prize. A caucus race.

Are we talking about a raffle here or a lucky dip or both? How about having "mystery" prizes pre-wrapped? Jude

There's an idea.... how many children are going to be there??

We could put them in a room, and parents take a lucky dip and hopefully go home with a better behaved one than when they came.....!!

No?

Oh well, it was an idea.....

Liz, I know you made the last suggestion (lucky dip on children) only because you know that you can't get a worse one than you have ;-) (don't tell Phoebe I said this...)

To connect the Gathering to our American friends I will donate a new boxed Jelly Belly Bean Juggler made in California where presumably they are considered essential to living in 21stC.

Beans to refill the Juggler are easily obtainable in the UK and taste delicious. A battery is included.

The box says Ages 4 to 104 so that should cover most of us on a good day. Cheers John

But then there is still the way from the shop to York house - the chocolate might melt away....

If I can get an extra all-metal kazoo I'll stick one of them in the raffle - who wouldn't pay good money for a chance to win one of those?

Hi. People keep on asking me about this event? I'm a folkie and I maintain the Stony Stratford web site and I don't know! Help! Is it something you'd like me to put on the town calendar at www.stonystratford.co.uk? BTW there's lots of info there about the town.

Mrs P has found a secret, but limited, supply of metal kazoos. I'll bring one for the raffle.

BTW, the likelihood is that a small number of people will go home with all the prizes, and most of us will go home with none!

In fact, I shall have a small but limited supply of small but limited metal kazoos for sale to the kazoo-impaired, specially imported from the US at great personal expense and trouble. (The kazoos were imported, not the kazooless unfortunates.)

I'm refreshing this in the hopes it might generate a few more replies before I drink the beer, use the CD as a place mat and do unspeakable things to the other thing.

277

and I think 177. I say I think, because I'm convinced the owner of this came forward, and chose a prize there and then..... if not, then it's a good job Eric wasn't there to collect his present, it will go in the prize pool.

Prizes are: a bottle of bubbly, a bottle of beer, another bottle of beer, a Bert Hansell CD, a tin of Hawick balls and something else.

Herga Kitty has claimed either the balls or the CD, I can't remember.

If they are not claimed before next Sunday 24th, they will go in the Mudcat auction. Of down my gullet....

Liz

I didn't exactly claim the mint balls, I just worked out that, by the time all the prizes in bottles had been claimed by the numbers preceding 277, that was what I'd get. I have no objection at all to bubbly (if dry) or beer (depending which brewery) but I have no idea what tracks are on the Bert Hansell CD (or whether I'd want a prize that Micca had fossicked for). I also had no idea how many other claimants would show up. PM me if you want to avoid thread drift. No, hang on, that's what this thread is about.....

Kitty, It is Mudcat Bert and has some good songs, on, I own a copy myself and it has his classic "size doesnt matter" on it...

From: Herga Kitty

As far as I know I haven't met or heard Mudcat Bert (sorry Bert, probably my fault) but I suspect that renditions of "size doesn't matter" could be of lasting interest (well, lasting longer than any single bottle, or even minty balls). So, Liz, I claim the Bert Hansell CD as my raffle prize. I leave it to you to work out who will see whom when to arrange delivery. If all else fails, Micca is thinking of coming to Dog Days in 3 weeks' time.
