02 Feb 02 - 07:00 PM (#640932) Subject: Lodge complaints about guests here From: GUEST Apparently it is time for this one again. Please, do tell the Mudcat Forum what it is you dislike about guests being allowed to post here. Don't be shy, this is your chance to let Max know how you really feel. |

02 Feb 02 - 07:28 PM (#640955) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: McGrath of Harlow I was going to do that too Gareth. I believe that technically it would be possible to trace and identify people who submit a post, even if they are not members. In the particular case Gareth cites I think it might be justified. |

02 Feb 02 - 07:37 PM (#640963) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: artbrooks As noted elsewhere, i think it would be inappropriate to not allow anyone called GUEST to post. Mudcat gets a lot of people who come in to ask a question and are unaware of local conventions regarding simple politeness. When told, they either get a cookie or adopt a cognomen if they want to stay around. ANON.GUEST, of course, deserves a phaser blast up his internet connection for his/her/it's childish flaming/trolling activities. Could whoever has the current line to Captain Kirk please arrange that? |

02 Feb 02 - 07:44 PM (#640969) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: Liz the Squeak It isn't "childish flaming/trolling activities" but out and out insults that should be edited.... Seems our mystery GUEST doesn't like us ladies of larger stature and is just out to screw with everyone's mind. But that's the advantage of being larger... sticks and stones just bounce right off..... keep 'em coming Saddo!! LTS |

02 Feb 02 - 07:59 PM (#640982) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: GUEST,Lodge 666 We, the members of LOL 666 would like to complain about Isaac McKittery, who's an ill-reared slabber and a hallion and who only got invited to our lodge by a quirk of fate. Anyway ... if he does the like of thon again, there'll be more'n words had! |

02 Feb 02 - 08:49 PM (#641016) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: GUEST Right, lets keep the racist and bigoted troll posts, and only censor the innocuous insults to forum members. Good idea. That'll show us. Keep those threats and complaints coming folks. |

02 Feb 02 - 09:01 PM (#641027) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: RichM Love the 'Cat! It's a feast, a smorgasbord, a buffet supper....take your plate and fill it up with threads that appeal to you, and leave those that don't appeal, for others to sample. If you went to the restaurant, would you insist on having a decision about what everyone else ate? |

02 Feb 02 - 09:05 PM (#641032) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: Little Hawk I have no complaints about GUESTS...having been one once myself. GUESTS are normal. I love GUESTS. Now what? - LH |

02 Feb 02 - 09:23 PM (#641041) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: Dicho (Frank Staplin) Put simply, does the Mudcat saloon (speakeasy) need a bouncer or two? I tend to side with RichM and Little Hawk but sometimes wonder if there is some way of stopping those who satisfy their drives by poking holes in a beehive with no other purpose in mind. I think I have ping-ponged from one side of this argument to the other- I guess that means that right now I don't think the problem is grave unless- and I repeat myself from similar threads- the memories of the mudcat data bank is in danger of being overloaded. Joe, Max, or someone familiar with the works would have to answer that. There are Guests and guests. Most of them seem to be making applicable comment or are legitimately asking for information. Too bad there be yahoos out there. |

02 Feb 02 - 09:44 PM (#641053) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: Little Hawk I called up the Orillia Moose Lodge, and they have no complaints about guests on Mudcat either. They thought it was some kind of female wrestling thing, and were initially quite interested, but hung up on me when they found out it was a folk music site. - LH |

02 Feb 02 - 09:50 PM (#641056) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: Dicho (Frank Staplin) I just looked at the Thatcher statue thread. It seems to me that the insult from Guest was asked for. If he is an English Conservative, the reply as a kneejerk reaction was in kind. |

02 Feb 02 - 10:00 PM (#641061) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: GUEST, Cookieless Member Who, whoa, whoa there Dicho... somebody (a Member) refers to a HATED Politician as 'a pile of shit', & a Troll responds with comparing the Members wife in the same way? I'm sorry, but even if the Troll was a Conservative (which I think unlikely....he hadnt responded to any other post on there) 'personalising' it in that way was NOTHING but trolling. I dont belive you can 'excuse' that in any way....sorry |

02 Feb 02 - 11:31 PM (#641094) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: GUEST A review of Spaw's posting history will reveal much worse than the comparison of a member's wife to a pile of shit, methinks. But that's another standard altogether, innit? |

02 Feb 02 - 11:32 PM (#641096) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: Devilmaster Well, if we don't want to stop guest posts, what about stopping guests starting threads.... Woulda prevented this highly intelligent thread. It would affect someone new for the first time who comes in looking for lyrics, but it would probably save some hard drive space on Max's system. Forcing cookies to start threads would allow, if Max wants, to ask reasons for starting threads if they are questionable, and deleting them if its proven in Max's mind that they are just setups for flaming and trolling. Like this thread here. Just an idea, let no one say us regulars don't want to change the 'Cat. :) Steve |

03 Feb 02 - 03:42 AM (#641159) Subject: RE: BS: Lodge complaints about guests here From: GUEST,paybacks So by insulting spaw you think you're better, guest???? What a hypocrite. Why don't ya just leave and never look back. That way, you don't have to deal with assholes like us. 'CLIQUE FOREVER!' What an idiot. |
