11 Feb 02 - 10:12 AM (#647262) Subject: RE: Ducks flying through HULL From: Dave Bryant Well, perhaps it depends on your financial priorities, but personally I thought, that at £15 it was good value for money. The venue was just right with wondeful acoustics for singing or playing and provided just the right level of informality. I'm sure that you've checked out the After SS thread to find out how much people enjoyed it. Anyway, perhaps if there is another SS, it won't be "Duckless" - we'll lay on the Orange Sauce in anticipation ! |
11 Feb 02 - 06:29 PM (#647625) Subject: RE: Ducks flying through HULL From: Mrs.Duck Sorry Dave my reply was aimed at guest not at the gathering. My reasons for saying that I was glad we had found it too expensive were simply that as a result of our feelimgs we decided to do something else and ended up booking a romantic weekend away with a good session in Hull as an added bonus. So yes in a way I was glad with the way it turned out. And it comes as absolutely no surprise to me that people had a great time - that was never the issue! As for next year - well that's a long time ahead. |
12 Feb 02 - 09:22 AM (#648097) Subject: RE: Ducks flying through HULL From: Les from Hull Actually, Hull is the romance capital of the world - you don't have to go any further. My futon awaits you both! I trust that the Hull mudcatters will turn out in force to see Geoff and Jane on Friday. |

17 Feb 02 - 05:57 PM (#652314) Subject: RE: Ducks flying through HULL From: Les from Hull What a great turnout for the Friday session! Must've been thirty or forty people, most of 'em singers and players. 'Geoff's funny dance?' That was a traditional solo jig from the Cotswold Morris tradition. Geoff is, of course, a featured artist with the Annual Whitby Scratch Morris. I was glad that people got to witness Geoff's version of duelling banjos - you don't often see people duelling with themselves. |

18 Feb 02 - 06:39 AM (#652538) Subject: RE: Ducks flying through HULL From: Mrs.Duck It was a great session Les - seemed to be most of the Whitby scratch band there!!Many thanks to you and Maggie for putting up with us, the great curry for breakfast and the guided tour. But then as the cutural ambassador for Hull we would have expected no less. See you soon. |
