07 Feb 02 - 03:29 PM (#644712) Subject: Hound Dog Blues From: Fortunato Heard this on Dick Spotswood last Sunday. Sounds like Brown's Ferry Blues, but the lyrics are about Hound Dogs with lots of 'dog howling' in the background. Does anyone know it? I'm looking for the lyrics, I think the tune is close enough to Brown's Ferry to let it pass. Recordings? Cheers, and thanks. Fortunato |

DOG HOUSE BLUES
I went downtown throught I had a dime
Come home this morning about half past eight
I went in the house to start the fire
I feel in the yard mad as I can be
(From HERE)
Musically it's a variant of "Brown's Ferry Blues" with howling sound in the background. There're audio clips by Bill Monroe and Nashville Bluegrass Band. NBGB sang this number in the video High Lonesome: The Story of Bluegrass Music (Shanachie, 1994).
