18 Feb 02 - 10:40 AM (#652647) Subject: Check out singer Toni Price at NPR From: Kim C Those of you in/around Austin, Texas, already know about Toni Price. I remember her from her Nashville days, several years ago. This morning as I was getting ready for work, lo and behold, there's a story on her on NPR. I'm going to go see where I can buy some of her CDs. :-) |

20 Feb 02 - 10:43 PM (#654396) Subject: RE: Check out singer Toni Price at NPR From: technission "Swim Away" is a great album of hers! I found it at Half-Price Books with a $1.99 price on it, didn't recognize her name, but saw a song title "Throw Me A Bone" Iwas sure I had heard on KPFT blues shows. Then I noticed three tracks had Juniuor Brown playing his guit-steel. I have enjoyed the entire album, copyrighted '93 by Antone's Records. Buy it with confidence if you like rockin' electric blues. 8> |

21 Feb 02 - 06:47 PM (#654936) Subject: RE: Check out singer Toni Price at NPR From: Stewie I second the recommendation for 'Swim Away'. It is a fine album, especially 'Richest One', with tasty guitar backing from David Grissom. I first came across 'Richest One' (and Price) on a beaut album from Antones: Various Artists 'Antone's Women: Bringing You the Best in Blues' Antones CD ANT 9902 (1992). It is well worth seeking out if it is still around. Besides Price, it has Marcia Ball, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton, Sue Foley, Barbara Lynn and Lavelle White. Lou Ann Barton's 'Read My Lips' and Sue Foley's 'Young Girl Blues' are also excellent albums. --Stewie. |
