This is a lovely song. "I want to go where no one knows me." Anyone know the rest of the song? Wilco48

I haven't found the words yet, but I have discovered that Skeeter Davis and Jean Shepherd both hav had recordings with the song.

Cowpie and Olga haven't got these lyrics.

There're two recordings listed by CDNOW, with sound clips: those by Jean Shepard and George Hamilton IV. The title by the latter is "(I Want To Go) Where Nobody Knows Me".

Collectables® Records has an mp3 sample of George Hamilton IV singing "(I Want to Go) Where Nobody Knows Me" on his album "Abilene, Plus More Folk Hits," 1963. I transcribed these words:

The same old house, the same old street,
The same old memory
The same old friends that I meet
Are always askin' me…

For some reason, I was unable to load CDNOW's web page.

chele.net offers to email a .wav file to you (free!) of George Hamilton IV's recording.

From www.lyrics007.com, by George Hamilton IV:

(I Want to Go) Where No One Knows Me
(Dick Flood)

The same old house the same old street the same old memories
The same old friends that I meet are always asking me
What happened to our love why did you go away
I smiled at them but died inside a little more each day
I want to go where nobody knows me where no one can ask me about you
I want to go where there are no mem'ries maybe someday I'll forget about you

[ guitar ]

I leave today catch a train somewhere far away
I'll find a way to ease this pain that haunts me night and day
Somewhere in this big big world I'll leave the past behind
I'll wake up and find that you're no longer on my mind
I want to go where nobody knows me...

Hope this is the correct one!

Lin
