Remember this is a song passed down mostly by the traditional oral method. I've always understood the words to be, "All from the Island of Ceylon" . I beleive the British Army was there during the 1800's. I always thought of it as a song coming out of the Halifax area. I can't remember where I got that notion though. Regards, MF |
