14 Mar 02 - 11:58 AM (#669138) Subject: Got to brag about my kid From: Leeder For those of you who read fantasy literature: My son Murray has a short story (his first professional sale) in an anthology entitled "Realms of Shadow", in the Forgetten Realms series published by Wizards of the Coast. He just received his contributors' copies (the courier arrived right in the middle of this message!), so it will be in the stores soon. This is rather a big deal, as my kid's story will be in bookstores all over the English-speaking world. The advance paid a good chunk of this year's university tuition. Also, the company commissioned a novel on the strength of his story; he's writing it now, and it'll be published next year. It may also have opened the doors for a full-time writing job when his university year is finished. So I guess I can exult a little. John Leeder |

14 Mar 02 - 01:48 PM (#669208) Subject: RE: BS: Got to brag about my kid From: Giac Oooh, congrats! I'm a fan of Forgotten Realms, although I've not read anything new for a few years, and have enjoyed several role-playing "adventures" there. A friend and I wrote a module, for our group's enjoyment only, which took place on Moonshae. I will watch for Murray's story, this is exciting news! Mary |
