18 Mar 02 - 06:54 PM (#671533) Subject: RE: Help: Norte Dame Fight song From: catspaw49 And there's nothing there I can see to help. GUEST SUMDECIMUS: First, we're a folkie and blues site with very little call for alto or bari sheet music and although we can generally answer requests for lyrics and tunes of folk songs along with some pop stuff, marching band music is not what we do. From what I can tell, not a lot of it exists on the web in sheet music form let alone specific parts for band instruments. You can find sheet music still at the good old sheet music houses and many of them still sell full band arrangements of this kind of thing. Sorry not to be more help, but this isn't exactly down our alley. Spaw |
18 Mar 02 - 07:37 PM (#671558) Subject: RE: Help: Norte Dame Fight song From: PeteBoom You'll have greater luck going to the University of Notre Dame site instead of Univ of Michigan. Or - try a local music store. Never mind that the music is copyrighted. |
18 Mar 02 - 08:09 PM (#671569) Subject: RE: Help: Norte Dame Fight song From: Peter Kasin Sing, sing, sing for old Notre Dame. Don't make those new songs all sound the same. We..will..strum..and..belch..and..hum..for the Fighting Folkies glorious name! Ok, I won't quit my day job. |
18 Mar 02 - 09:10 PM (#671600) Subject: RE: Help: Norte Dame Fight song From: GUEST,Billy The version I heard went: Hail! Hail! For old Noter Dame, You take the Noter, we'll take the dame. Send the freshmen out for gin, Don't let a sober senior come in. We never falter, we never fall We sober up on wood alcohol ?????????????????????????????? And it's on to the next saloon. Anyone remember what the 2nd to last line is? |
19 Mar 02 - 10:50 AM (#671943) Subject: RE: Help: Norte Dame Fight song From: Pooby While we're busy parodying the Notre Dame fight song, I thought I'd resurrect this classic, from an old Mad magazine feature titled something like "Anthems for Lesser Known School Sports Teams." It went: Cheer, cheer for our Scrabble squad They fill the board with words that are odd Adz and xebec, zax and qua Zarf and quinoa, pix and ka Jato and furzy, os, ot and ugh Zygote and baba, yoohoo and vug They know every word except the one that spells VICTORY! How on earth I still remember that ridiculous ditty after 35 years or so is one of life's little mysteries. But to this day, I still have trouble watching Notre Dame teams on TV without cracking up every time the band starts to play. |
19 Mar 02 - 01:57 PM (#672067) Subject: RE: Help: Norte Dame Fight song From: Mrrzy I am of course reminded of Tom Lehrer's Fight Fiercely, Harvard, in praticular of those unforgettable lines addressed to the graduating class which might actually be part of Bright College Days... "soon you'll be out amid the cold world's strife... Soon you'll be sliding down the razor blade of life..." |

Mrzzy: The Haravrd Band Playes "Fight Fiercely, Harvard at Harvard (Home) Football Games. And The Latin Lyrics to "Ten Thousand Men of Harvard" are a bunch of "Dog Latin" like "Illigitimi Non Carbondum"> |
