Home to the freedom and peace of the kingdom, the kingdom of friendship alone. Then you will find that friendship is everyone's home. It's a kind of melancholic folkrock, the male singer has a sharp voice, a bit peter sarstedt atmosphere but not as soft,it dates I think from the 70's. there is also an accordion used in this song. I taped it in july of 1988 from Dutch FMradio (but it's most likely to be English, Irish or American) and put a short (30 seconds) MP3sample of this song on my homepage: This is the name of the page http://musicsearchers.netmenu.nl/ This is not a commercial site, i'm just a musiccollector who is trying to find some information about music. Here is the link to your http://people.A2000.nl/dfernand/Samples/SAMPLE10.mp3 I listened to it, but it doesn't sound at all familiar to me. The only thing I can hear is that the singer possibly has a language other than English as his first language, that is that he seems to have a strong accent. So he may not necessarily be English, Irish or American. Good luck with your search. Wait for some other Mudcatters to listen to it and you might get the answer. Helen |

He is a well-known songwriter and singer in Europe. Here are the first two verses; you can compare with what you know of the song: TRISTE ET BLEU Je t'écris d'Amérique, oh, baby. Yesterday night. J'ai été écouter chanter Bo Diddley. Quand il a demandé ou public "Are you all right? Est-ce que vous allez bien?," j'ai répondu "yeah." J'aurais dû lui dire en fait: "I'm feeling bad, I'm down and out. Personnellement, je m'sens mal." Je suis triste et bleu, sad and blue, sick, malade. Je suis triste et bleu." He goes on to sing about Margaritas served by Marilyn, Chicago blues, B. B. King, a Lincoln Continental. A great song. The part "in the shadow" I am uncertain about.
