It's become such a favorite (I'm performing at least three numbers off of it) that I want to know more about them. I'd also like to purchase a new recording since I've worn out the tape. I can't find info anywhere. Help! |

I have the album, copied it for friends of mine who have a folk quartet and they immediately learned two songs from it... Supper Time and Precious Memories. Maybe it's me. When I click on, it brings up the Smithsonian page with the albums from L-Z. I had already checked out "P" to see if it was listed there, and there is no listing under P. I just checked it again. There's also no place to click Edit, or no IE. Thanks for trying to help, though. I Do have the l.p. in excellent condition.
Lamarca: Nice to hear that you had brunch with the Beans. They indeed are old friends. Every year we do a Gospel In Black And White workshop together at the Nomad festival, and it's always great fun. A wonderful contrast of beautifully harmonized southern White Gospel and rocking out black gospel quartet music. I always try to get the Beans up and pair them off with us, so that we can do a roof-raiser gospel song together. They've recorded one of my songs, and they helped me out on a never released gospel album that I did several years ago. Nice to hear about them.. Jerry

I've saved all the gospel stuff I could find at the site, onto a CD. We need a parody of Never Grow Old, about our music collections, called Never Wear Out. *G* It would be about going to heaven and being able to hear the songs again, all as fresh as the day they were made, from the actual singers, who would presumably be up there too. In the meantime, I guess the safest place to stash 'em is in our hearts and memories. Don't you find if you learn a song to share it, it is harder to forget it than if you just listened to it? I mean, all the nuaces of the recording are so much more compelling in my mind, on the tunes I have listened to closely enough to learn them. ~Susan |

So, whatever happened to eam? Is that short for scream? He/she/they are missing all of this edifying information. Speaking of that, I came across a neatly packaged statement in the bible recently. He did say something about posting a query about the Georgia Pals on Mudcat when he and Mary were talking. Hey Jim (if you're still around and checking this thread)did you mistakenly put my (one and only) guitar capo in a pocket when you put the Larivee away yesterday? And he, Cindy, & Nate met me for lunch about an hour ago -- the capo has been returned; what I suspected was true. He hasn't been back to this thread because he's at the mercy of his brother's computer and lots of complicated and darkly secret log-on procedures. Mostly I'm trying to refresh this thread so he can find it when and if he checks it again.... I loved the way the Beans sang "Suppertime" at their concert on Saturday.
