Not just a national anthem, but the world. Bluegrass us no longer confined to my hills of home but is loved worldwide. Possibly one of Bill Monroes songs or Dellmore brothers or whoever.(Forget being politically correct, be thoughtful and say what you want) Jeep Man |

It's a lovely chorus and a decent tune. A |

C'mon, all the best bluegrass tunes are either murder ballads or songs about not getting along with someone, be it over land or love (with the distinguished exception of the above-mentioned Uncle Pen). So let's appreciate it for what it is (or was), a bunch of gnarled countryfolk singin the cut-time blues.

23 Mar 02 - 07:01 PM (#675037) Subject: RE: BS: Bluegrass World Anthem From: Amos The sentiments of most existing Bluegrass tunes are too local to make a global anthem. One good possibility that comes to mind but is not bluegrass is "Last Night I had The Strangest Dream". But using existing pieces I would think you would have to modify the language to reflect something global to humans. And Cotton-Eyed Joe just doesn't make that grade, boys!! A |

I have my own ideas but cannot settle on just one. Maybe that's it. Is bluegrass to diverse to can into one song? I don't know. Jeep |
