This was a great Tee Shirt slogan my boys used to wear. I always got a kick out of it.

"Keep your religion out of my music." "Keep your love life out of my folk music." "Keep your accomplishments out of my music." "Keep your heroes out of my music." "Keep your opinions, feelings and beliefs out of my music." Did I miss anything? Maybe it could just be simplified to "If I don't wanna hear it, don't play it."

Then again, maybe we should ask what the T-shirt wearers meant by "My." (Amazing how the word "folk" just snuck itself into the above. Oops.)

To which the politicians might reply, "Hey, Woody!! Keep your music out of my irresponsibility!"

Better yet, a slogan for US taxpayers: Keep your politicians out of our White House!

You know what, 'spaw? I couldn't agree more. Maybe Jed's T-Shiver could say: "All you Puritans get back on the fucking boat...and, oh by the way, stay the fuck out of my music and my politics."

Or is that too busy for the front of a T-shirt? regards, Chance

Oops. I'm getting personally involved here, deep breath, deep breath, that's T-Shirt, not T-Shiver.

Jed. Here's a bumpersticker I saw when I pulled into the Ford Motor Company lot to play a gig a few years ago:

KEEP YOUR FRIGGIN' IMPORT OUTTA MY PARKING LOT - BUY AMERICAN!

Not sure if the Bumpee caught the irony, since the parking lot was in Toronto!

I was glad I was drivin' my Escort!

Cheers

I read in a car magazine awhile back that there are more American-made parts in a Nissan than in any "American-made" automobile. Hondas are made in Ohio (they were actually a better made car when they were made in Japan). Toyotas are made in California. We have a Toyota. Guess we bought American, then. Is it true that the Volkswagen beetle ("Made in der Black Forest by Elves") is now made in Mexico? That's what I've heard. To bring this thread back to music, here's a miracle for you:-- I have a Spanish guitar that was actually made in Spain.

This thread reminds me of a great shirt that friend George occasionally wears: "TUNE IT OR DIE!". CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson

A Jewish friend of mine who is a well-known musician in these parts has a T-shirt that he wears to family gatherings that reads: My Father Was In The Holocaust And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt.

All he best,

Seamus

LOL - Seamus!

My other favorite was a Tee shirt I saw worn in a pub, by a musician and it had one of those red circles with the line through it symbols - you know the ones that mean 'no smoking' or 'no diving' or no something ... well this had one of those symbols over the two words: Wild Rover

... guinesschick played it for him before he left, of course!

Good one, Jed. A little thread creep here..when I perform at Highland Games and festivals, pipers tend to congregate where the musicians are playing to an audience, and practise/warm up for some unknown reason, thereby pissing off the singers and annoying our audiences. I mean, there are lots of other places they can go and blow the shit out of their pipes and not bother anyone. But no, they always come near the stage where the (real) musicians are performing, to allegedly tune-up. So I've devised a sign to post around our stage areas for 300 or 400 yards or so. It's the international Verboten symbol as described by Jed up above there, with the silhouette of a piper in the circle. Think it would work. Probably, but with my luck, their place would be taken by drummers! All the best.

I want a t-shirt with a picture of Turlough O'Carolan with the red-circle-and-line. (I like his music, but how many weeks in a row could you stand Morgan Magan, Lord Itchyqui...can't say that...Carolan's Farewell to Whatever, and it's why I wrote Farewell to Reason - but I digress)
Perhaps a green unicorn for St Pat's.

Seamus, sounds fine except pipers need to be able to read the sign.

Speaking of t-shirts to be had at festivals...

I bought one for my honey at last years Southern Maryland Celtic Festival that read; "Celtic mathematics lesson one: Bisecting an angle" and showed some ancient Celt cleaving some hapless guy in two.

heh...
