Help: Rise Up Singing II

It's been a long time since I've seen info about the great folk music songbook, Rise Up Singing (from Sing Out)...The last I heard was they had trouble getting the 2nd Edition out because of all the copyright hoops... Did they ever get it up & running?

Have heard rumours about RUS II coming out for ages. Don't know if it is going to happen in this lifetime, or not. Think there was a thread regarding this a while ago, can't recall the name. If you like RUS, though, you may want to check out "The Folksingers Wordbook" which just got back into print a couple of years ago. I find the two to be great companion books, each supplanting the other.

I asked Peter Blood about this last year. The second Rise Up Singing book is definitely a work in progress, but don't hold your breath, it may be a couple of years yet (don't have a recent estimate).

The first RUS took a long time due to the necessity of getting all the copyright permissions, above board. The second one is no different in that regard. So keep not holding your breath.

The good news: he also said they're going for more rowdy, bawdy, perhaps even politically incorrect material. So it'll seem less like the ultimate hip Quaker hymn book.

There you are! Wasn't it your thread that had this topic in full detail? Thanks for the answer, WillieO

Of course, if you want a bigger and better songbook, you might want to try the Digital Tradition. ;-)

Hi, MAG - it's meant to be a second volume, a companion to the first. It was fun to take part in the song selection process, but it seems like a lifetime ago. I understand that it can take time to get copyright permissions, but I think this is three years past the target publication date.

Well, I guess that answers that!...I sure would like another, though... Also, I posted a note about DT...I downloaded it a year or two before with my MAC, but with my son's fooling around with my data storage, it's gone away...Wanted to do it again, but now I see that they say they don't have a MAC version, yet!... How many years are we Non-Bill Gates supporters going to be discriminated against?, & can I at least get an old version, then?
