Tune Req: HELP: 'The Dragon's Lullaby'

Does anyone know a Celtic air called "The Dragon's Lullaby"? I heard it in a movie called "Dragonworld", but I don't know if it is a traditional Celtic air or something written for the movie. My son was really taken with the tune, and he hums it all the time. I am trying to find out if it is traditional. In the movie, it didn't have lyrics, it was supposedly played on a bagpipe (but actually, it was a pipe in the background, I think).

Thanks, Sandy Laird slaird@eurekanet.com

Go to Google and type "dragon's lullaby" in the search box. There are several quite a few hits to look through. Does it have lyrics or is it just a tune?

Hi,

Thanks for the responses. The tune I am talking about doesn't have lyrics, as far as I know. I also found the Lipton lyrics, but those lyrics don't fit the tune I have.

The tune is pretty simple, so I will TRY to post it here in abc format. I am new to abc format though. Here it is, as I transcribed it from memory.

T:The Dragon's Lullaby C:Unknown M:6/8 K:C

G3 AG2|E2G2c2|B3 AG2|E6|d3 cd2|G6|e4 d2|c6:| G3 AG2|E2G2c2|d3 cd2|f3 ed2|c4 B2|(c6|c6):|

I hope this helps. This may not be the entire tune, but it is what was in the movie (and what my son, who has an incredible ear for 7 years old, keeps singing).

Thanks again, Sandy Laird

Then it may be the one listed on this page as a slow air, so may be traditional. I found another band which does it also. Let me go translate the abc and I'll see if I recognize it.

I looked, and found this site, which mentions the movie. It says what you heard was a set a small pipes and a whistle.

Bagpipes go to the movies

Interesting page.

I don't recognize it, but that doesn't mean anything. So many tunes........(sorry I forgot to close the bold.)

I've been trying to find this song for years, too. I saw the movie as a little child and fell in love with that song, something about it just captures children's hearts. I used to know the tune as well as I knew my soul, but it's gone now. If you find it, I would like to know.

The composer is Richard Band and this is his site:

I also loved the tune when I watched the movie and have remembered it for years. Enjoy. :)

The dragons lullaby was outlawed by the English when they invaded Scotland so it’s difficult to find the recording .I heard it in the movie Braveheart .I guess you can find it on youtube .

GUEST, that rumor keeps going around the Youtube comments. A couple of individuals have been claiming that the "Outlawed Tunes on Outlawed Pipes" melody is actually an ancient traditional Scottish melody called "The Dragon's Lullaby." But that is not true! "Outlawed Tunes..." was composed by James Horner for the Braveheart soundtrack. It is a modern tune. There is NO basis for this weird notion that it was an old melody outlawed by the English.
