Below is a copy of a scam email that a number of people have received, purporting to be from Ebay and asking for personal financial information. Ebay say they have NOT sent any such letter and that the message below is a fraud. The "April 1st" date at the very bottom is not lost on me, but if it's a joke it could turn out to be a very unfunny one. (I wouldn't like this letter even if it were genuine.) So just a heads-up: If you get the following, delete it.

Please take just a moment and update your eBay billing file. Remember to "doublecheck" all the fields for any possible mistakes.

To respond and update your information , please click on the web address below. If that does not work, please cut and paste the entire web address into the address field of your browser.

eBay has had some problems with security lately - people have been able to hack in and use member IDs to run auctions of the fraudulent variety. First I've heard of this one -
