08 Apr 02 - 01:27 AM (#685330) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: My Babe From: Pene Azul I believe Willie Dixon wrote it. I see that it's credited to Willie Dixon on several websites. Seems right to me. Great song. I especially like Little Walter's version. Jeff |

Little Walter (Marion Walter Jacobs) recorded it (1955) and had the classic hit version on Chess Records. Currently available on MCA/Chess 50th Anniversary edition "Little Walter, His Best". Recommended. Willie Dixon is probably the greatest songwriter in the history of the blues. |

Great song, either way. The DT entry to which Pene Azul provided a link (above) shows that Fred McDowell got a publishing company writing credit, just like Wille Dixon did -- maybe both of them took credit for their "arrangements " of a traditional piece. |
