I can just imagine the head scratching going on for anyone who can't decipher the Geordie dialect. I live 30 miles from Stanley Market and even I struggle with the language barrier!

Ha! You see the Mudcat will help you to reclaim the dialect. I can offer a link to a geordie dictionary. click for to speak Geordie

There are a few dictionaries of the sort on line. Heslop is the primary source still. See also coal miner's dictionaries.

You will find a common thought re. headscratching in a Jez Lowe song - the one he mentions having a dream in which he sees Bob Dylan playing slide guitar with a newcastle broon ale bottle.

Shopping in Newcastle....one of the wonders of life.... I wandered through granger market many a time...and I could go on about the pubs but I am thursty enough. I got my first tin whistles in Granger Market.....
