19 Apr 02 - 05:45 AM (#693534) Subject: Amelia Bachelor - RIP From: Fiolar The death has been announced of the actress Amelia Bachelor, who has probably made more appearances on screen than any other actress in the world. Born in 1908, she had bit parts in such films as "Bachelor Bait" (1934); "Heritage" (1936) and "Big City" with Spencer Tracy in 1937. Her favourite part according to her however was as one of the inhabitants of the Emerald City in "The Wizard of Oz" (1939). Her big role came in 1936 when she became the symbol which millions of cinema goers saw. Not guessed yet? She is/was the "Torch" girl in the opening crdits of Columbia Pictures. |
