BS: let's meet at folklife

I would be interested in meeting others at Folklife, although it is always sort of problematic...you get entranced by some performance and don't want to leave etc..or the crowds can be so wicked that you can't make your way through them. So if anyone has additional suggestions, please post them..I would suggest at least one place where several us of will be, and you might like it anyway..which is a Northwest Panel at 11 a.m. on Sunday..it goes till 1 p.m. and is in some space under the Food Circus, which is central, and has food....the theme will be Forests and Farming....and the group Jon P. has assembled is quite impressive...

if additional places are suggested I will try to be there..late afternoons are good around 5...

I don't know if we're going to make it, but there was a suggestion made on an earlier thread about an identifying symbol of some sort...how about a "Mudcat brown" spot on the badge?

I'll be performing Irish Traditional Songs at the Exhibition Hall Lawn Stage (near the Mercer St. Entrance)on Friday, 3:40 - 4:10 pm. So I'd be happy to meet any Mudcatters there afterwards.

Cheers, S. in Seattle

Tell you what. I'll get some kind of little stickers that you can put on your Festival button and give them to Beth and Mary at the "Festival Services" desk on the third floor of the Center House. If you go up to the desk and say the secret password, they'll give you a sticker.

The secret password is (shh! Don't tell anybody!) "May I have a Mudcat sticker, please?"

If you see somebody else with a sticker like yours on their button, you'll know they're another Mudcatter.

I will be running the Band Scrambles again this year, at 5:00 PM on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Check your program listing for locations.

Band Scambles are contests where people get assigned to bands at random. Each band gets an hour to rehearse, and then we put them on a stage; a panel of judges chooses the winning band, who receives a silly trophy. It's a fun way to get people playing together with strangers, and the band members and the audience all seem to enjoy it.

Good on you mg and John for organizing this. I'll see folk at the panel mg speaks of - I'll be wearing puce braces (sorry, suspenders) and carrying a copy of Lenin's "What Is to be Done?"
