BS: Happy Birthday--MAX DYLAN SPIEGEL

Subject: Happy Birthday--MAX DYLAN SPIEGEL
From: catspaw49

Well another year has passed and so has my gas which made me think of you Maxie me lad. This is your big 3-0 isn't it? Christ, I have unused rubbers older than you are.....I doubt if we can ever top the birthday of the belly-dancers (Bert was better than the real one), but at least we can have a thread for you......Technically I guess the day is tomorrow, the 24th, but this gets the nightime crowd involved if any of them want to post......and of course they will. This will damn near kill every other thread that's running probably. A bigger bunch of suck-asses I have never encountered in one place before except perhaps in Dubya's Cabinet.

As you are probably aware, Father Joebro detests these birthday threads since he feels they all say the same thing and he thinks it's silly. He's right of course............but fuck him! Generally I take it upon myself to assure that birthday threads have at least one different message by suggesting that the birthday boy or girl go suck the shell off a turtle or something. You are of course free to do that too. In your case though I fear that the messages will run along the lines of:

Happy Birthday and Thank You Max for providing this wonderful website and bringing us together here. It is the most wonderful place on the net and you have done a great job! MAX for KING!!! Blah, blah, blah............

Pardon me while I hurl chunk..........

Yeah, that'll be about the way of it but now to appease Joe and be sure this isn't totally repetitious and boring, I am forced to say:

You bite. Here's a swift kick in the balls for you from me......GOOOOMMMMPPHHH.........Well that about covers it. BTW, Cleigh sends his love and he still awaits a puff up his ass from you. Cletus, Paw, Buford, and the Reg Boys also send their best which don't amount to jackshit so don't get too excited about that either. Also the staff at the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed send their love...which means you need to watch your ass...literally.

Well Max, I've said it all here.......and as the most prolific poster in the joint with 16,000 or so posts, I should have said it all by this time. Yeah, I'm proud to say that in all of those posts, damn near none of them made any sense and mainly dealt with the finer points of scatology. I know that I did post a few things worthwhile, but I'll be damned if I can find a one. Gawd knows this one sucks but what else could it do when you consider the subjecr matter? And if you still have a girl who will be caught dead with you, I hope you get a real bang out of your birthday, so to speak.......

Much Love and Kiss My Ass,

Spaw

A more sedate HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the blues crew and the Tweedboard. May your blues notes never fit the tempered scale and your rhythm always be on the ONE but have a second line too.

Happy Birthday Max! I love you for providing this wonderful website and bringing us together here. This is the most special place in the whole internet, and you're the most special of all special people of which I can think. You have done such an incredible, wonderful job of making a loving home for us on the web, and I just want to give you a big hug!!! You ARE my hero!

Seriously, Happy Birthday and Bite Me.

Spaw, you got some on your shoes...

,All you who dream of royal rule,
We offer here the perfect tool,
To take the throne, by which we're lead!
Of perfect form, and perfect head!
Of style well-famed, and sweetly named
And in the rhythm method trained!
A leader who will steer you true
Do all the things a King should do,
And stand a Leader, no apprentice
Erect and strong, to represent us!
Of passion full, of drive inspiring
Yet when unwanted, all retiring!
Descendant of the Spiegel line,
Well honored since the dawn of Time,
And ever ready to renew
The forebear's blood and marrow blue!
Prepared to conquer, and to seek
Where never tread mere folkies meek!
To thrust and parry with the best,
To drive us in untiring quest
To strive, and dive,  among the best!
So folkies raise him to the throne
And be ye ruled by this alone,
Who rises to each hard occasion,
Fit to lead our Mudcat Nation!
Who shall it be? Who fits this mold?
Should Max, then, be our leader bold?
No! Let us not by Max be led --
For he is but a slug-a-bed!
Let's vote for Max's tool, instead!
His own, eternal peckerhead!
Let cheers, acclaim, hosannahs sing --
We will be ruled by Max's Thing!!

Happy Birthday, Max!!

Everytime I hear Mississippi John Hurt, I have this little pang in my heart...I've gone to the doc to see what condition my condition was in, but he says it ain't nothing but a little pine'nin' and some shock therapy will put it right, but I know it's 'cause ol' MJH makes me think of MDS and how much I MISS hearing him wail away on those blues! So sing one for me, willya and here's a big {{{{SNOG}}}}} just for the Birthday BoyMan!

Oh, thank you all so much. Started celebrating at midnight last night, and got an unexpected day off today. My gal went off to work this morning with both my sets of car keys. Bosslady said no sweat. Got a Web site to work on, but I doubt I'll get anything done today.

Joe, you are thinking of my brother, David JoanBaez Spiegel.

30 years old. My peers here on the Cat are older and chide me for being so young, while here in 3d world my gal and all my peers are younger and tease me about being old. I tell them that I'm older and wiser and they just say I'm half right.

I feel like I've lived a lot so far. I have a 12 year old daughter, a soon to be x-wife, a bald spot, extraordinary debt and a hangover. I think I've done pretty well so far, no regrets. I don't feel old.

The Mudcat is one of my greatest sources of pride. Just yesterday I got a fax from a fellow in Israel looking for the lyrics to Galway Bay. I sent him a fax of the two versions we have in the DigiTrad and got a phone call with a thank you and a shalom. I felt good sending that fax. A Jew in Israel looking for an Irish song? Gladly.

You all mean very much to me. I'm working to get my now mature life back on track, mostly financially, then I'm gonna go on a road/air/water trip to see every damn one of you. It has been my pleasure to have you all here, and I look forward to hosting you for another 30 years.

30 years old, eh buddy? You are edging ever closer to the "Land of Never Passing a Bathroom without going in". Bald spots, 12 year old daughters, debt................and its all downhill from here.........hahahahahahahahaha. That is all a load of old shite, my friend. I am 51, and I can't wait to grow up! Just keep it between the ditches, stop every so often and get to know the locals, never lose your curiosity, and enjoy.

Why do I sing? Because there are people like you in the world. In fact, I sing because you, specifically, are in the world. Happy Birthday and I will see you soon.

Oh........yeah..........the fish are biting.

My mom instituted a tradition in our family -- she said it was based on how the Catholic church celebrated Saints' birthdays -- and if it was good enough for saints, it was good enough for her (my mom had many fabulous qualities, modesty was not one of them ;-)): The Octave, or celebrating for 8 days. Namely, the eve before and the week after.

Considering how much of a service Max has provided to a musical community, an octave celebration is particularly appropriate. The only question is, what key? ;-)

Happidle Birdledadle, Max!

Oh, hell. Let's just call it MaxWeek and keep the sloppy sentimentalism pouring in.

You've done a righteous thing, Mr. Spiegel. Many people live an entire lifetime without doing a righteous thing. And here you are, a mere sprout of 30, already accomplished in the righteous-thing department. Awesome work.

My chicks hatched yesterday -- 16 of them so far -- and I'm going to call them all Max, in honor. Come see me when you take your Pub and Sofa World Domination Tour and I'll serve you the freshest omelet you ever done et.

Love you, Babe, WyoWomanWhoNowLivesinKansasButWho'sKeepingTrack?

Happy birthday Max, and all the kinds of wishes that would make Spaw puke. :-).

Talk about being late--I didn't discover Mudcat until I was 73!

And I visualized the legendary Max as somebody like Pete Seeger's much older brother, that I could look up to with proper respect.

I don't waste no Happy Birthday on 30 year olds!

Come see me in another twenty years!

Well, the 2 things I like best on this post are what Watson said, "Max has the birthday and we all get the gift." Wish I had thought of that. The other is the octave celebration because without it I would have missed this thread and I would have been most disappointed.

So, a huge belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I know I was 30 once but I don't remember much about it. At least you are at the end of a decade. That always makes me "feel" better about changing decades.

Hope you had a great day, my best for many more, thank you for all you've brought into my life and so many others and I can't wait to see you at the Getaway. Why not come to Old Songs - June 28-30th?

Hauskaa Syntamapaivaa! Let's see if one of our Finnish catters will correct my spelling, as I'm SURE I don't have it right! But the thought is still .... MERRY BIRTHDAY! Cheers, Bob(deckman)Nelson

Happy Birthday, Max.

Marge and I have a futon on the floor for you when you hit Baltimore.

I don't mind being late anymore. I'd much rather be Roger in Baltimore, late, than the late Roger in Baltimore. Growing older sure beats the alternative!
