27 Apr 02 - 09:24 PM (#699575) Subject: US Copyright office question From: Maryrrf I think I know the answer but the instructions weren't 100% clear. You don't have to write out all the lyrics to a song and sent it in to the copyright office - you can just send them a recording? Or does it have to have lyric sheets. I'm going to use form PA, not SR. Has anybody done this? Also, any pros and cons on registering several songs at once using one applications - as a group so you don't pay $35.00 per song? |
27 Apr 02 - 10:37 PM (#699600) Subject: RE: US Copyright office question From: GUEST,RollingThunder no lyrics, just three items - form, deposit (CD, tape or whatever) and a check for $30. Form PA protects the composition not the recording. If you wish to market the works, tis easier if they are registered individually rather than as a collection. |
28 Apr 02 - 12:35 AM (#699638) Subject: RE: US Copyright office question From: Charcloth you can file them as a group & then go back & pay a fee ($10 I think) that will list them all as individual works. It requires another form but could be your best bet if you have several pieces. I used to have a copy of that for & it's requirements but I don't know where it is at presant. If you still need it PM me & I'll see if I can find it & slow mail it to you. |
28 Apr 02 - 09:12 AM (#699751) Subject: RE: US Copyright office question From: Maryrrf Thanks, Charlcloth. That sounds like the best bet for me and that's what I'll do. I've got about 12 pieces so that would get pretty expensive to register them individually. But let me dig through the website and see if I can get that form before you go through your stuff. Thanks for the help, all! Best regards, Mary |
