Very impressed by "Johnny Petto" - as I mentioned in the thread on the Mudcat, that fiddle by Klaus der Geiger is a knock out, but I really liked the way you held it out until the first verse was over, and by the way you were able to sustain the whole song through eight long verses, and they didn't any of them seem redundant.
And in complete contrast "Men of Steel", with that spare accompaniment, and holding it off for two verses. Very powerful, with the echo and all.
And the others. "I used to have a name" I'd heard already from your site. But I was pleased you'd chosen "Small Voice Crying" for the title track, giving it a second meaning in the process.

A lot of thought and arranging has obviously gone into its production. Very clear recording. The track "Jack the stripper" is, quite honestley, hilerious!! Its very nice to hear original stuff! The track, New Patriot, however, was a bit on the heavy side for me, but hey! Iam a harp man, appreciating softer tones!! The male/female harmonies work very well (something I hope you will include In future recordings Alan) The drumming also stood out. On the whole, Its an exelent disc that sits quite happily on my top shelf. John. |
