08 May 02 - 12:27 PM (#706752) Subject: Authentic Indian Name From: Leeder A propos of the thread on Blues Names, you can also get an Authentic Indian Name, from a CBC radio comedy program, "The Dead Dog Café". Their website is http://www.radio.cbc.ca/programs/deaddog/ . The show is a tad controversial. I see it as slyly poking fun at Caucasian attitudes towards First Nations people, or First Nations people making fun of themselves, but some people see it as racist. Anybody else got an opinion? Anyway, I went so far as to get an Authentic Indian Name for myself. (signed) Raoul Telepathic Badger |

09 May 02 - 05:30 PM (#707678) Subject: RE: BS: Authentic Indian Name From: gnu The only way to get your true "Indian" name is to be named by a true "Indian". My Native Brother from the Four Winds Reserve of Bouctouche, New Brunswick thought long and hard before he gave me my name, of which I am so proud. We worked on several construction sites and he was witness to my wise and sage ability to move money, men and machinery on time and on budget, while attending to the smallest of details, ensuring that the finished project would meet the exacting details of my client : "Big White Prick." They call me "Prick" for short.... a feather in my cap, I'd say. |
