Yea - that is his & Kathy's site. Drop him a line. I am sure he posts here occasionally but not sure of his handle.

Hi, I'm Jon Heslop. Please contact me on redherring@unisonfree.net

I have a very few copies of an old tape recorded about 8 years ago, my tape of sea songs and stories is completely sold out (Like a Lighthouse Shining with Kathy Wallis), my book, An Ordinary sort of Man is almost sold out and I have about 10 copies of the last CD, with Kathy, called Not For Glory left.

You won't find the website as it's off line now and awaiting updating.

Jon

What a coincidence. I heard somebody singing a song at Upton which I was told was by you Jon - I don't know what the title was but it had a line 'Boat for sale'. Where might I find it?

The song you heard was probably "Cheap Boat" It has a chorus that starts: Cheap boat for sale - I don't need her any more.

BTW The link posted above 18/5 @ 1.11 is working at the moment ! Jude

Cheap Boats and Candles, both great songs, are in the book SILVER HARVEST by cornwall songwriters.
Im sure copies can be had from Mike O'Connor you can contact him from the links page on www.folknewskernow.co.uk
I managed to get a copy of Jon's book at 'Cry of Tin' a couple of weeks ago. If there are only 10 left don't be left out.

Jon
Could either you or I post 'Cheap Boats' here. It's too good not to be shared with the 'catters?.

To guest 20 May 7.08 - I don't know if you're a troll, had a bad day, or just mean spirited but before you start being rude why don't you put your brain in gear .... the reason why I said the link worked is because I had tried it immediately prior to my post ...

BTW I just tried it again & guess what? it's still working!

Hello Jon. many years ago (probably about 15) I cornered you in the car park of a pub just outside Crediton in Devon. You has just finished your set at he Crediton folk festival. Not for the first time I had sat fighting back tears whilst you sang your song 'Poor murdered men. I got you to sing it through again in the carpark so that I could record it on tape.
Every year around this time I remember it and find myself singing it (as closely as I can remember) over and over.
I moved down to Devon myself about 8 years ago, and moved to a new house just about 2 weeks ago, but still in Devon. That original recording may well have been lost over the years, and 3 house moves, but It's possible, with luck I may still have the tape tucked away somwhere. I think I'll just have a little look through the as yet unpacked boxes!
