What time does it start, how much, is there beer on board? So many questions so little time. Keith |
23 May 02 - 06:54 PM (#716446) Subject: RE: BS: Folk Night On The Grand Turk 5th June 02 From: Tyke Hello Selby Clan, Last year there was on the main deck Freedoms Road with various people jaming along and or leading a song or a tune. Below deck the Bar starboard with a singer's/ musicians session portside. As that took a break a musician's session started on the starboard (Charles OConner) (Horselips). Music broke out spotaniously it was just one big party. As the night went on the Captain and the First Mate broke into song's and Shanty's with Coblers Monday on the Main Deck. However this was well past the Selby Clans Bedtime and mine as I sadly had to leave at 2am to drive back to Leeds with the Music still going strong. What will it be like this year! Well last year it was superb! Mick Haywood came up with the idea of moving the whitby folk Club to the Grand Turk on the Sunday and the word spread like wildfire. As I drove over the moor to Whitby Peter and Chery were in front of me in there Car. Having driven over to Masham for some live Black Sheep Beer for the Bar. Last year it was only £1.50 per pint with profits to the crew. Just across the road there is the Plough and as you know The Tap N Spile. Peter is again organising the Bar on the Grand Turk. The price of Beer in the Plough is £1.25 the whole of the Plough has been redecorated. Last year when the Grand Turk came to Whitby we Drank the Plough Dry and it wasn't after Bank Holiday. I started this thread to give Mudcaters the information of when and were. Make of it what you wish this will be a very special night! I WILL BE THERE AND I DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE BACK TO LEEDS TILL MONDAY!!!!!!!!!! |

25 May 02 - 02:23 PM (#717284) Subject: RE: BS: Folk Night On The Grand Turk 5th June 02 From: Herga Kitty Oh thanks, George. Frigging in the Rigging Kitty sounds like a character from a shanty (possibly related to Serafina, not to mention Kitty Carson). If there is an animated video it's probably X-cert (but if it's from last year's Grand Turk I'm not in it, because, as you know,I wasn't there). Have fun (not that you need telling) Kitty |
30 May 02 - 02:42 PM (#720355) Subject: RE: BS: Folk Night On The Grand Turk 5th June 02 From: Tyke Hello Raggy Tash, Well there could be but then again who knows! The crew have to have some shore leave! The bar is being provided by Peter and Chery on the Wednesday Night. I hope you havent forgoton that you have to go and sing song's about dead thing's in Robin Hoods Bay the following Weekend. I have been told that the Grand Turk has landed and is here for two weeks. I on the other hand have been busy delivering the Tykes News to all and sundry. So that's where I going now! The Queens Golden has mucked things up slightly. |
