25 May 02 - 06:46 PM (#717355) Subject: Rough guide ..Appalachians From: Mac Tattie For the last fiew days I have had a coppy of "The rough guide to the music of the Appalachians". Sounds great to me, 'fact it sounds better than great. BUT, is this a true sampeling of Appalachian music singers and players? Some of the performers are fairly well known to me via CDs and records...Peter Rowan, Del McCoury, Ralph Stanley, The Cox Family and Dock Boggs... others including, Claire Lynch and Rhonda Addams are new but welcome to my ears. cheers. |
