Lyr Req: My Wyoming

To you 'out there', I am looking for sheet music for 'My Wyoming" A piece sung in H.S. Chorus in mid '50s. This song is a metaphor for 'my life'; Lyrics;

"Wyoming, calling me home.
Wide-open spaces that I love to roam.
Green valleys, kissed by the sun;
ready to welcome you when day is done.
In green valleys, you're sure to find,
perfect contentment and sweet peace of mind;
when my roaming's over...and you're deep in clover,
I'm sure there'll be someone to welcome this rover.....
To "My Wyoming...."

I have tried Wy Univ with no luck. Anybody out there ever 'hear' of this piece?
with due respect;

Boy, you'd think since i lived there and grew up part of the time there, I'd know. It does sound familiar. I didn't find anything on google, though. Someone will probably come along who knows it. In the meantime you might try the Wyoming State Historical Archives in "Shy Anne."

You could also send an email to Chris LeDeux. He was born and raised in Kaycee, WY and I'll bet he'd know of it, at least. It might be a long shot to expect an answer from him, but it doesn't hurt to try. he used to be quite approachable. There should be an addy on his website.

I'll ask a couple of people I know who may have a 78 of it or the sheet music.

Welcome to the Mudcat!

I don't know it either, and I live here. I do know Somewhere in Old Wyoming, though, if you want that. Oh, and kat did a typo/spelling error--that would be LeDoux.

Sang it in high school in NJ in late 50's. Remember tune and words. That's it.

Martin Duda,

I know the song “Wyoming”. I sang it in my high school choir New Kensington PA in 1954-55. I was a 2nd tenor and I still recall the lovely melody. Our choir director was Carolyn Bruno. She chose great tunes for us and this was one. So glad you provided these lyrics.
