Lyr Req: Little White Horse (from Rex Allen)

When my wife was a child in the 1950's, she was enamored with a song that started with the words,
Little White Horse, I've got a gal in Texas.
Little White Horse, you gotta get me there.
Does anyone out there know anything about this song? Who performed it? What label? We would like to find that someone else knows about this song. Maybe someone has a 45 tucked away in the attic?

Rex Allen recorded a song called LITTLE WHITE HORSE in 1957, on Decca 30204 b/w DRANGO. It has recently been released on an album called "Versatile," Jasmine Records. I couldn't find any lyrics or sound files, so I can't confirm it's the same song.

This sounds like Broadway's idea of a great cowboy song:

LITTLE WHITE HORSE
As sung by Rex Allen on "Greatest Cowboy Songs" (2011)

Little white horse, I got a gal in Texas.
Little white horse, ya gotta get me there.
Whenever she writes, the letter's full of Xs,
Kisses by mail to tell me that she cares.

CHORUS: Yippee-i-o and away we go, my little white horse.
Come on and cover ground,
'Cause we're Laredo bound.
Yippee-i-ay, we're on our way, my little white horse.
I never saw moonlight shinin' so bright.
I can hear the cowboys howlin' tonight.
If they howl at my baby, I'll shoot 'em on sight.
Hurry-up-a-giddy-up, hurry-up-a-giddy-up,
Hurry up, my little white horse.

I feel her lips close to my lips.
Soon we'll be kissin'
Down by the banks of the Rio Grande,
And when I've found she's on my mind,
I want to fly there.
Giddap, my little white horse.
