This year will be its last chance as far as I am concerned. Last year all the regular pub singing venues seemed to be missing. I know that several regular singers have given it a miss this year. Where will we have to sing this year? I'm singing in the rain ... (but I hope we won't have to!) |

My singaround will run as a sing around the room (which is difficult to manage in a pub with all the comings and goings) but the Cause is a non-smoking venue. Good for asthmatics - and Alan White is running the bar. But what Alanww is missing is the informal sings that happened eg in the back bar of the Angel before it got tarted up (with prices to match). Pearl and I are doing our usual gigs at Chippers this year, namely the Folk Club Friday and Saturday Nights at the Cause (a new venue that Bob Berry has been raving about) and the Essential Sing at the Rose and Crown every lunchtime starting at 12.00 - get there early if you want a seat (but leave one for me and Pearl, please) We usually try to fit in a Shanty and Sea Song Sing on the Monday. We have been at the Rose and Crown for three or four years now - The 'Bear' closed for refurbishment that previous year and hasn't been used as a festival venue since. Still, I reckon the 'Rose and Crown' is a better venue All the best and safe journeys there whatever venues you're going to and if you come to ours, come and introduce yourselves Tony and Pearl |
