I'm now looking for lyrics of two songs familiar to Atlantic Canada music.... "Skies of Labrador" & "Foggy Shores of Home". Anyone know these lyrics and author/origin?

Perhaps it's Northern Lights of Labrador? Chords there, too.

And from the same site, Foggy Shores of Home. I'll paste when I have a little more time, if somebody doesn't beat me to it..........

THE NORTHERN LIGHTS OF LABRADOR
(Don Fulford)

I've travelled far by the northern star since the day that I was born.
From the Caribbean to New Orleans I've been inclined to roam,
And the beauty I've seen and the places I've been I thought I'd see no more,
'Til I saw the lights that shine so bright in the skies of Labrador.

Those northern lights that shine so bright when the night is cold and clear--
The snow is bright from the pale moonlight and silence fills the air.
I cast my eyes to those sparkling skies, and I can see once more
Those northern lights that shine so bright in the skies of Labrador.

This place I've heard in every word is far away and cold,
But I have found in this beautiful town a treasure as rich as gold:
Those dancing kites with their colours so bright each night as I look through my door;
Those northern lights that shine so bright in the skies of Labrador.

Sometimes when I'm down and there's no one around to tell my troubles to,
I stroll outside and I gaze at the sky and I'm no longer blue.
The night is still as I drink up my fill as if I'd see no more
Those northern lights that shine so bright in the skies of Labrador.

My time it will come like everyone when I must say goodbye.
I'll feel so sad as I look out the plane as it soars through the sky,
And I think of the time when I can say that I'll return once more
And see those lights that shine so bright in the skies of Labrador--
And see those lights that shine so bright in the skies of Labrador.

THE FOGGY SHORES OF HOME

I've sailed upon the ocean wide
I've sailed the world around
I've sailed on barques and brigantines
From Lisbon to St. John's
I've sailed where the ocean tossed and rolled
I've sailed where the ocean foams
I've sailed where the ice flows thunder and roll
To bring the white coats home

CHO: Wherever you may ramble,
Wherever you may roam
Wherever you may be
You'll be happy to see
The foggy shores of home.

I've sailed down to the South Sea Isles
I've sailed where the trade winds come
I've sailed on schooners listing low
To bring home 'baccy and rum
I've sailed to the city of New York,
To labour in the sky
High above the streets below
To home my heart would fly. CHO.

One day I will sail back home
To my dear foggy shore
I'll plough the ground of my hometown
And go to sea no more. CHO. TWICE

[As performed by the Masterless Men on their album "Breakin' New Ground," 1995.]
