From: GUEST,brad3555@yahoo.com

Please, anybody I'm desperately in need of lyrics to Leprosy which is a parody on Jealosy. I also must have the lyrics to pretty redwings. I must have them in the next day or so, I would really appreciate it if somebody could help me out as I don't have much time left before my concert. Thank you so much, Brad

Red Wing
Words by Thurland Chattaway
Music by Kerry Mills
The Real Best Little Fake Book Ever, Hal Leonard Publishing Corp

There once lived an Indian Maid
A shy little prairie maid
Who sang a - lay, a love song gay
As on the plain she'd while-a-way-the day
She loved a warrior bold
This shy little maid of old
But brave and gay, he rode one day
To battle far a way

CHORUS
Now the moon shines tonight on pretty Red Wing
The breeze is sighing
The night bird's crying
For a far 'neathe his star her brave is sleeping
while Red Wing's weeping
Her heart away.

She watched for him day and night
She kept all the campfires bright
And under the sky, each night she would lie,
And dream about his com-ing-by-and-by;
But when all the braves returned,
The heart of Red Wing yearned
For far, far away, her war-ri-or gay
Fell bravely in the fray

CHORUS

John

I haven't checked the DT, but I'm pretty sure it's there. Just in case -

A slightly different (from previous post) lyric for Red Wing follows, as TEXT A, with a "Vulgar Version" as TEXT B.

Guy Logsdon, in The Whorehouse Bells Were Ringing: and Other Songs Cowboys Sing, page 207ff, gives:

RED WING TEXT A

There once lived an Indian maid,
A shy little prairie maid,
She sang a lay, a love song gay,
While on the plains she'd while away the day;
This shy little maid of old,
She loved a warrior bold,
But far, far away he rode one day,
To battle in the fray.

CHORUS
Now the moon shines tonight on pretty Red Wing,
The breeze is sighing, the night bird's crying;
Far, oh, far beneath the star her brave is sleeping,
While Red Wing's weeping her heart away

She watched for him day and night,
She kept all the camp fires bright,
While under the sky, each night she would lie
And dream about his coming by and by;
When all the braves returned,
The heart of Red Wing yearned,
But far, far away, her warrior gay,
Fell bravely in the fray.

TEXT B (VULGAR)

There once lived an Indian maid,
She sat in the silent shade,
Afraid some buckaroo would ram it up her flue,
As she sat in the silent shade;
Then with her sunburned hand,
She crammed it full of sand,
So if some buckaroo did ram it up her flue,
He'd never reach the promised land.,

CHORUS
Now the moon shines tonight on Charlie Chaplin,
His shoes are cracking, for the want of blackin'
Hids damned old briches, they need patchin',
Where he's been scratchin' the lice away

Logsdon also gives an alternate Chorus, "commonly known," as:

CHORUS
Now the sun shines bright 'round pretty Red Wing,
As she lies sleeping, there comes a-creepin'
A cowboy brave with eyes a-gleamin'
His cock a-standin', with promised joy.

And the "Chaplin" alternate chorus, attibuted to Riley Neal:

CHORUS
Now the moon shines tonight on Charlie Chaplin,
His shoes are cracking, for the want of blackin';
His damned old britches, they need patchin',
Where he's been scratchin' the lice away.

I know a really filthy version of Redwig, but, I wont post it here. How about an e mail or PM?

LEP-rosy!
My god, I've got LEP-rosy!
There goes my eyeball
Right into my highball!

LEP-rosy!
My god, I've got LEP-rosy!
There goes my ear
Right into my beer!

That's as much as I can remember (right now).

We do have several search engines onsite, which are really quite useful. I particularly recommend the "Digitrad and Forum Search"; a search for redwing will get you some results, but red wing (the song's title) will get you more; including, in the DT:

RED WING
RED WING (2) (parody)
RED WING (3) (parody)
CHARLIE CHAPLIN (parody)

And in the Forum, where people have asked for this song a number of times in the past:

Redwing lyrics
Lyr Req: Little Redwing / Union Maid
red wing

A similar search for leprosy will find (among other things):

Jalousie or Jelosy HER ARM FELL OFF!!!

I see that that last thread was started by you a couple of years ago; you seem never to have come back to see if you had any replies.

All I can remember are those awful leper jokes, which isn't the same thing. I like DaveO's version!

Why did they stop the leper hockey game? There was a face off in the corner.

What did the leper say to the whore? Keep the tip!

And so on.

From: NightWing

To the tune of the Beatles, "Yesterday":

Leprosy
All my skin is falling off of me
I'm not half the man I used to be
Oh, how did I get Leprosy?

Syphillis
It all started with a simple kiss
Now it hurts me just to take a piss
Oh, how did I get syphillis?

Why her box was sick
I don't know. She wouldn't say
Now my throbbing ****
Won't get thick like yesterday

Yesterday
My ****er was always cumming out to play
Now it needs four weeks to hide away
La la la la la la la-lah

Sorry.

BB,
NightWing

I rember that. There is also the end part which goes:

There?s no fun in kissing,
My jawbone is missing,
My lips dangle down grotescly.

Used to sing it in New Guinean, chap named Terry Hewitt played it oh his guitar.
