06 Jun 02 - 09:00 AM (#724241) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: GUEST And how might we go to BROADSHEEP? |
|
06 Jun 02 - 09:33 AM (#724260) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: fogie I just go to Yahoo UK or Google and type in broadsheep. You dont have to put .org or com or anything else |

06 Jun 02 - 09:40 AM (#724264) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: GUEST I went to Google and amongst the 9 listings it bought up, this page appeared to be the only possibility (which indeed does appear to be the 'subscribe section') It doesn't give any listings but does ask for money. I'm not sure how knew you are here, but providing a link to the site that you are promoting is usually a good idea...

Im not involved with BS Ive just used it free for many years, and dont mind singing its praises, I also love Shreds and patches, but this mag is a monthly job, and very useful |
|
06 Jun 02 - 09:57 AM (#724279) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: GUEST OK, So instead of saying: "search Google, find the most likely page, and then scroll to the bottom and click on the link" wouldn't: Click here be easier? |

06 Jun 02 - 10:02 AM (#724282) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: fogie Yup, except I dont have a clicky thing to give others, so thank you for lending me yours. If you have the time perhaps you could tell me what I need to do to get a clicky thing. |

06 Jun 02 - 10:05 AM (#724283) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: Watson Much as I hate to interupt GUEST's masterclass, this one also lists a lot in that area. Even if GUEST is a whizz at blue clickies, I think I'd prefer to hear fogies saxophone(s) any day! |

It's at the top of the thread list. Good luck and lots of helpful people here if you have any queries. See, Greg, I'm not the bastard you make out... |

06 Jun 02 - 10:26 AM (#724302) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: fogie Its nice to know there are so many helpful people about. Thanx to guest for the info. I'm afraid Watson may not have been completely complementary if he'd prefer to listen to my sax, but thanx to him as well for the BBC link to Shrops. The reason I mentioned the Borders is because there seems a thriving thread of whats on in Shropshire but not much over the borders in H/W and Powys, and I'm not bothered which region I go to in pursuit of music, and BS covers as far as the Buttermarket in Shrewsbury. I'm away to study F A Qs so bye bye for now. |

06 Jun 02 - 11:59 AM (#724391) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: the lemonade lady I agree Broad Sheep is a great magazine for local events, chat etc., but isn't that web page due for an update? It's telling us about Bromyard Folk Fest and Bishop's Castle's Michaelmas event from last year. |

06 Jun 02 - 12:11 PM (#724409) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: Watson Good point Mrs L. It does seem to be in a bit of a time warp. The printed version is a good read, but we don't often see it in our part of Shropshire. |
|
07 Jun 02 - 06:23 AM (#725081) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: fogie They used to get a grant from Wales. The printed copy is very good, and free if you manage to find one, in Tuffins, the libraries, some pubs, otherwise you might have to subscribe -something Ive never done. I guess your local library might arrange to receive a copy. Anyway without it I'd not have heard that Bottine were doing Ludlow, which is a good enough reason for me. |

07 Jun 02 - 06:29 AM (#725086) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: Trevor Hiyah Watson. There are usually copies knocking around in The Six Bells, Poppy House, Tuffies etc. I reckon Sal should get a few (and Shreds & Patches - which I think is great)to put on her stall so that people have got something to look at while they're in the queue. |

07 Jun 02 - 06:41 AM (#725092) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: Watson Hi Trevor - are you back in the UK, or just taking a break from the beach? I usually pick up a copy of Broadsheep when I'm in the area, but it's rare to see one nearer to Telford / Shrewsbury. Shreds and Patches is useful - perhaps Sheila could put it on line some time... |

12 Jun 02 - 08:01 PM (#728784) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: the lemonade lady I was going to stop the Buffalo in Clun session but don't worry! I've just come back from the sesh and have a tale to tell. I suggested to our little throng that maybe we should have a little summer holiday. They were not happy! Apparantly they (5 people) look forward very much to our little song/tunes 'club' every month that it has become the highlight of their month! That's Clun life for you! They build their 2nd Wednesday around it so that their evenings are free. What on earth could I do? I can't stop something they enjoy so much now can I? It doesn't matter that there are only a few of us, if they want to be there and look forward to it who am I to put a stop to it? So if you're in the area 2nd Wednesday of the month, please come to the singaround/tunes session in Clun, Shropshire- It's small and friendly and I love 'em all! Sally |

13 Jun 02 - 10:28 AM (#729155) Subject: RE: BS: Whats on in Hereford-Powys-Shrops Border From: Llanfair We are still trying to get something going on this side of the border. The Red Lion, where we used to play, changed hands, and, although the landlord said that he wanted it to continue, he didnt find it necessary to turn off the TV or fruit machine. So we stopped going. If we can't find anywhere locally, there probably won't be a gathering this autumn, but I'll keep working on it!!! Cheers, Bron. |
