Thought some might be interested in this: Celtic Music Field Guide, the publisher is asking for ideas, suggestions, help, etc.

Went to their site, saw the bands the have purportedly "reviewed" and thought, somebody is thinking "Celtic music = cash cow".

This person knows zilch about Celtic music. Anyone who has to solicit information for a "field guide" to music on the internet to write their book isn't going to write anything either informative or authoritative.

Looks like a rip off to me.

Ah, sorry, Sean. I didn't delve into that much as I was looking for something else when I came across it. I got a quick impression that they knew they didn't know much and, so, were looking for input from anyone and everyone for suggestions, etc. Thanks.

First comment:

Celtic Music: A Complete Guide, June Skinner Sawyers, Da Capo Press, ©2000, ISBN 0-306-81007-7

It's been done well before.

Second comment:

The publisher is a known "books-for-bucks" outlet. They have produced some things with "content," but expectations should not be held too high.

The "input form" looks like they want to know about "performers and groups," more than about the music. Those of us who perform might consider whether to claim international fame and "true authenticity" there. If your group gets included - you could get groupies. NOTE: This is not a recommendation that anyone post there. Use your own judgment.

Books about music don't sell. If you look in any major book shop, you'll find that the only thing in the "Music" section is stuff about musicians and groups. I'd guess this "new" book will fit in.

They've represented both Senator Robert Dole and Bob Dole?

Can the Yanks tell me if these are two separate people (or two personalities - BG), or does this mean a proof reading problem?
