AD: Catter at California Ren Faire!

Hi all!

I'm shamelessly plugging myself and the group I'm in, The Poxy Boggards.

It's been a great year so far, and we're down to two weekends left (June 8,9, 15 and 16). If you're in the Southern California area, please stop on by! I'd love to meet some 'catters face to face finally (as I keep missing Joe every time I'm in NorCal, and haven't been to a shanty sing in SF in years).

If'n you're interested, details on directions and costs are at www.recfaire.com. I'm onstage at 10:30, 12:30, 2:30 and in a joint set with another fine group, the Belles of Bedlam, at 5:30. We're all on the Rogue's Reef (NC-17, adult and bawdy humor ahoy) stage... stop on by and say "Hi!"! I'm 'Lurch' out there. Don't ask - not my choice of names.

Thanks! Gratuitous plug ends here.

M

Joe, the new site is in Hollister, near Gilroy. It would be a three-hour drive for me, so I have sworn not to go, but various friends and guildmates were working on me this weekend, so I am now having a moment of insanity and considering a weekend or two.

In other news, Kevin Patterson is having a faire in Novato, I believe in September-October. I haven't got the info yet, but try a web search on As You Like It Productions.

Sean, get your rear end up here and visit!

It has been at the Nut Tree for the past few years...that is between Sacramento and the Bay Area by I-80. It was held near Napa for years...but i heard that location was sold to a developer for condos, apt.'s and the like....hey i am nort east of sacra-tomato, maybe it will be close ? do tell...

The site name (recfaire) is a combination of the company (Renaissance Entertainment Corporation) and faire.

The REC NorCal faire (RPFN) that used to be at Black Point (and also used to be owned by the Patterson family, the originators of the Renfaire concept and current owners of As You Like It productions) has been moved from the Nut Tree site in Vacaville. As stated earlier, it will be near Gilroy.

There IS a faire coming to the Marin area though. AYLI has announced an event (though they don't have a website for it yet) that is being held in a park of some sort a few miles from the old site (that is now a golf course). The Marin faire is I believe only scheduled for three weekends. The Gilroy RPFN will likely be between 6-8, depending on how they schedule.

Thanks for the support on the show I'm currently doing. It's been a hell of a good year - our new CD is doing VERY well, there have been GREAT crowds this season, and overall it's been probably one of the best faire seasons ever - and I've still got one more weekend to do.

*Hopefully* we'll be doing some other shows this year, very likely at renfaires. I'll post details as they happen.

Oh... and the chocolate covered strawberries...

MMMMMMmmmmmm...

One should never underestimate the power of 6-8 lovely young women in bodices lasciviously eating chocolate covered strawberries.

Gee, and i thought it was the fame of MY chocolate strawbs that had spread far and wide! Will keep an ear open for the Marin Faire. The Hollister site is like 7 hours away, with no place to stay. I sent a complaint to REC, i still think they should have a true NORTH faire. At least SF or norther!

Gee, Sean, your strawberry image conjures up a favorite nickname of the old Northern Faire:

The Marin Mammary Festival

Hee hee

Bodices are one of the fringe benefits to working these things - it's a wonderful study in human sexuality that a woman wearing little else besides a chainmail bikini (hey look! She shaved...) is often passed by in favor of the woman in the bodice, chemise, two hats, two skirts, and the belt with 40 pounds of peasant crap on it...

MmmmmrrrrOOOOWR!

:::giggle!:::

SeanM, is it perhaps a "more is more" sort of thing? ;D

Acutally, I think it goes back to the reason that radio chiller/thrillers and burlesque were so succesful. Because the mind can conjer much more than the reality of a thing.
