Any singing Catters at a loose end next weekend?

Sue is leading a Folk Camp singers weekend at Elmore near Gloucester next weekend and there are still places available. There will be workshops and loads of singarounds. It costs £20 for the whole weekend but you could come for one of the the days for £10. You can be assured of a friendly welcome and good company, we'll even do some dancing in the evening , but of course nothing is compulsory!

We're driving from Manchester on Friday afternoon, so we could even offer transport if there's anyone who needs a lift.

PM us for more info.

Look forward to seeing you if possible.

I'd love to, Sue & Bob- I had my eagle eye on that as soon as I saw it posted. I'm in Liverpool with Shellbacks that w/e though, or I'd be with you like a shot.

Hope all goes swimmingly.

Love

Noreen

or if you are in Ireland there's the Paddy Tunney weekend in Belleek, Co Fermanagh and the Fleadh Amhrán & Rince (Song and Dance) which I think is in Warrenpoint Co Down this year (check with CCE, Ceoltóirí Éireann). I won't be at either - our hillwalking club is going to Co Mayo.

I think Fleadh Amhrán is Rince is in Castlewellan, not Warrenpoint

I want to come but I'm in Los Angeles (that's California on the left coast) and the plane fare would kill my budget (not to mention my husband - killing me not the budget - er you get it). I want to come WAAAAAA. I have my passport in my purse. Maybe I could go to the airport and hitch a ride. HA!

"you can't jump a jet plane, like you can a freight train"

Glad you asked, dear GUEST! A number of mudcatters are members of the Shellback Chorus who meet up to sing shanties and sea songs (and have a great time) at festivals, so far only in England, but we have international plans!

Formed at the Liverpool Shanty Festival 2000, this coming weekend will be out third appearance there, and I'm told there may be up to 60 Shellbacks singing this weekend- you'll not miss us if you're anywhere in the area!

Oh Sue, sorry to have hijacked your thread. :0( Hope your weekend goes really well- will you let me know if you're going to do another one, please?

Noreen

Since it's you Noreen, you're forgiven!!!

The singer's camp is an annual event, but other Folk Camps run throughout the summer season,(all over the country). Many are very child friendly and we've always enjoyed the ones we've attended - both with and without offspring! John and Pam Routledge came up to the North Yorkshire one over the Jubilee Bank Holiday, so as new Folk Campers they could probably give you an objective view.
