Hi, Larry:

One memorable night, I played at the Fat Black Pussy Cat in Greenwich Village. If you did a set, they gave you a hamburger and fries. Sing for your supper. Two other guys stopped in and we each did a set. Richie Havens was accompanying himself on bongo drums and did his enterpretation of an English folk song on bongos. Tiny Tim did his Shtick, and I tried desperately to sound like a worn out 78 of some old toothless guy from Appalachia, which was kinda hard, because I was in my twenties and shiny as a new penny.

Richie Havens?

Kulanjan is Taj Mahal's album with Toumani Diabate. Richie Havens ain't got nothin' to do with it.

And that's the truth, 'cause Stone Cold says so.

Gee guest... if you aren't mistaken, then the Lynne Stuart Committee sure is, which I doupt... but, hell, if there is an error, I will let you know by about 11pm New York Time tommorrow... I guess the truth will be up to Richie Havens, no mater what Stone Cold thinks, eh????
Cheers, Larry

Richie will probably think you're an asshole for confusing Taj Mahal for him.

Click here and I'll prove whose album Kulanjan is!

And that's the truth, 'cause Stone Cold says so.

Well, Guest is right about Kulanjan and the tracks described being by Taj Mahal, so they are either wrong about the album or wrong about the artist. However, opening for either of these incredible musicians will be quite an experience. If they REALLY screwed up and both Richie & Taj will be there, let me know, I'll make the drive from Toronto.

Of course I'm right. I've got the CD playing in the computer at the moment. What gets me is that this Larry guy isn't willing to admit that he made a stupid mistake.

He guesses "the truth will be up to Richie Havens, no mater what Stone Cold thinks, eh????"

It's not what I think, it's what I know. And it's easily verifiable information. This guy claims to be a political scientist and law school graduate. C'mon, with his research ability, he wouldn't have passed poli sci and no court of law would accept an argument that "the truth will be up to Richie Havens, no mater what Stone Cold thinks, eh????"

And that's the truth, 'cause Stone Cold says so.

Lynne Stewart decribes herself as a human rights lawyer. But the only human rights she stands up for belong to the Islamic terrorists out to murder Americans.

The U.S. Government has proof that she has actually conspired with Islamic terrorists and that's why she's going to spend the rest of her life in jail.

Of course, in the kind of society that she and her terrorist friends are trying to create, she'd have been tortured and killed. Women are not permitted to speak out at all in such societies.

Imagine, in New York City, only months since 9/11, there are people like Lynne Stewart and Mudcatter Larry staniding with the Islamic terrorists that would have us all dead.

For shame. God Bless America.

Well, I seldom take my last words on facts from professional wresslers, or folks who name themselves after the same, but, it well may be right about the album, quite definatly it is Richie Havens on the bill tonight. I was asked to type up the program, and I can't emagine that all the lawyers involved made such a huge gaff, which it appears they may have, I will check it out with folks by 10am NYC time when Lawyers begin to answer office phones, and for that, Friend Wressler, thanks...
As to Lynne's guilt, etc... let me provide you with another take...
1. The government does not have facts that "she has actually conspired with Islamic terrorists" and that's why we are going to have a trial.
2.The government, presently, wishes to deny you that right, which will make you a good deal less safe.
For example, the government now says that a certain fellow is to be held - mostlikely without trial, as a prisoner of war, for plotting to blow up a dirty bomb in the States...
Now I don't know how professional wresslers feel about this, but I'd like some oversight of the governments investigatory achievement, in light of the fact the last investigations did not make us that much more safe, here in New York. Point of fact, after a huge number of IRA smuggling cases did not win convictions, here in New York, the government brought an IRA gun running case in Tuson, and recieved the same result, which was that the FBI created a sting, and the six guys did nothing to aid that endevor, so the real gun runners where not caught. In such a case, you hope the FBI keeps doing their job, especially when the result of sloppy investigations are a nuke, of sorts going off.
If you don't see the value of a defence bar, I suggest you go and pursue your wressling fantacies in a nation where there is not a defence bar and tell me after a while, if you feel safer.
Jerry! Thanks for the memories of the Fat Black Pussycat! Man that place was much more fun then the World Wressling Federation!!!
Cheers all, I tell ya how it went latter!
Larry

PS So far she is not charged with conspiring with terrorists... she is being charged with paraphrasing a comment made by her client, two and a half years ago, and not understanding Arabic. The news media, with the exception of 60 minuites did not do a very good job of reporting the facts... Cheers again, Larry

PPS I checked and it appears Steve Austin is correct, I am still waiting to hear back from the committee... but I can assume the FBI will want to now charge Stone Cold with aiding and abetting terrorism, for keeping us on good terms with Richie Havens, thanks for the help mate,
Serriouly thanks, if in deed we can get the corrected programs out, all kidding aside, thanks...

RICHIE HAVENS is a nationally known blues and folk musician who has performed his music in support of progressive movements from the Woodstock Music & Arts Fair in 1969, to the Clinton Presidential Inauguration in 1993-coming full circle with the His latest CDs is Wishing Well (Stormy Forest/Evangeline Recorded Works), which includes two longtime concert favorites, "Paradise", and "On The Turning Away". Larry and Ebbie, Not to be Miss Manners here, but here are excerpts from the above thread:

Guest: "Richie Havens? Kulanjan is Taj Mahal's album with Toumani Diabate. Richie Havens ain't got nothin' to do with it."

Larry: "I guess the truth will be up to Richie Havens, no mater what Stone Cold thinks, eh????"

Guest:"Richie will probably think you're an asshole for confusing Taj Mahal for him."

Ebbie:"Stone-cold-j--k, it's good that InObu is a peaceable man! You may be stone cold correct but nice you are not. Larry Otway is."

Larry:"Well, I seldom take my last words on facts from professional wresslers, or folks who name themselves after the same, but, it well may be right about the album"

I admit, you did thank him eventually, but the escalation in tone came from you. A thank you WAS appropiate, but in seeking peace within the Mudcat world, perhaps the ad hominum attacks would rate an apology as well. Just because Guest named himself after a Pro Wrestler (not my first choice either) is no reason to assume that he was wrong, or to belittle him.

As my mother would say, "You messed up, now say you're sorry."

Peace to all, Blues

My dear friend Blues=life:
Frist of all, you are absolutely correct, and before anything else, Stone Cold, if you find yourself at a session where I am, or at a festival I am playing at, or pass me in the street, the first round is on me, if you don't mind drinking with a bloke who drinks diet coke. Consider this an e-hand shake.
Second, I agree, blues IS life
Third, thank you. I often remind fellow Friends that we can't be open to God in others if we proceed on assumptions, and in fact assumptions can be subliminal, ie: a mental immage from seeing S.C.Steve Austen on the tellie jumping about ontop of fellows, and not at all in a loving way!
Sharon! I am really chuffed, and looking forward to giving the esteemed Brother Richie a copy of my CD. I need to take a wee nap, as I was waiting for my sweetie to come home from Vergina for most of the night (she got in at 6!) So thanks to all, and I will report on the evening latter or tommorow.
Again appolgies added to the heart felt thanks. Afterall, you could have held off until tommorow and embarassed at least two well meaning folkies.
CHeers Larry

PS, Stone, ol'skin. As a wee peace offering, drop me an email at InOBU@aol.com and I will send you a copy of my band's CD, Nil Sasta Ach Amadain, it has been praised by left and right alike. I am sure you will enjoy the song I wrote for the ten lads who died in our local fire house on the 11th. The song has been archieved by the FDNY, and there is also a song on the CD, "Election Day" you may like. Cheers again, Larry

I don't know, Larry. I was rather amused at the picture of confusion as the audience entered, considered that they might be in the wrong room, left, came back...And the look on Richie Havens face when the requests started coming from the floor.

Stone Cold might have cost us a good laugh. He, by the way, drinks beer. And you don't want to get too close.

Enjoy the night!

Well, quiet unfortunately, I did upstage Richie... He was supposed to get finished recording the night before in LA at 1am catch a night flight to new york, and arive basicly just in time for the performance, he couldn't make the flight, but promices to be at the next Lynne Stuart fundraiser... BUT! though the place was packed, and HOT (no air at all!) I got a thunderous reception, for which I am humbled and thankful, and the show of concern for the road we seem to be on, to a state without civil rights was heartening... I will keep you all posted on the next Lynne concert... and by the way, her daughter is a SPECTACULAR gosple singer, who I expect our mudcat family will be hearing from soon - and the rest of the folk world as well, by the by...
Cheers Larry

I guess the thread title, InOBU & Richie Havens Tomorrow [true!] turned out not to be true after all.

It makes me wonder if you can ever believe anything that a lawyer says.

First, the lawyers try to credit Richie Havens for Taj Mahal's work, then InOBU gives us some crazy story about how he missed a 1 AM flight and couldn't get back to New York for a show almost a day later.

Memo to InOBU and other lawyers: There are more than 200 flights a day from LA to NY. The flight takes about five hours.

But wait a minute. What if this whole thing with Richie Havens was just another lawyers' lie.

I looked up Richie Havens' tour itinerary and saw that he was playing last night at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA.

And that's the bottom line, 'cause Stone Cold says so!

From: GUEST,Stone Cold Steve Austin

Sorry, InOBU, I appologize for my mistake. The listing for the Birchmere was for May 11, not June 11.

Richie's tour itinerary shows NOTHING for June 11.

When I make a mistake, I own up to it right away. That's the Stone Cold way.

And that's the truth, 'cause Stone Cold says so!

Good man yourself, S. C. I was just about to say, anyone who calls me a liar, makes a comment about himself more than about me... but, I will instead say, it is a big fellow to appologize, so I will keep my offer for a pint open! Havens has promised to make the first Lynne event he can so I will keep you posted. Anyone who wants confirmation of Havens having been on the bill can contact WBAI in NY and I am sure they will give you the word, and BBC covered the event, so you all in England and environs will see a bit of it as well.
Cheers for now, Larry
