Folk or Football?

This week-end 15th June is the Singleton Cloggers Day of Dance and Folk Music at Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, England - just a stone throw from Blackpool of Tower fame!

What's planned

Morris dancing in the square (10.30-16.00)from Singleton Cloggers (North West Morris), Fiddle 'n' Feet (WOW), and Ossy Cloggers (Step Dance Team have to be seen to be believed!)

Folk - Open Mic session in the Old Town Hall pub (11.00 to 18.00)- everyone welcome....

Craft fair in the Masonic Hall (10.30-17.00) clog making, Glass engraving, T-Shirt Prints and more.....

Evening Concert (19.30-23.00) Old Town Hall Pub with Scuttlebugs (Irish) Jessical Lyons, Alan Bell, Tinkers Cuss, Emily Riley, Penny Black (Comedy Folk - not a female singer!) and maybe even more....

Everything is FREE and everyone is welcome to come along and join in The Jubilee Fun.

Now the bad news..... if England loses tomorrow (Wednesday) - they'll be playing on Saturday at 12.30! - and every pub will be turning over to Football!!!! - unlike us gentle sober folkies these supporters tend to get drunk and cause problems....... so everyone "will" England to win and come along on Saturday to prove traditional music and dance is far more important!!!

If you're off to the Liverpool Maritime Festival instead that's OK..........

If England lose, they most probably won't be playing anywhere...

Win - Sunday match
Lose - Saturday match

Honest - I don't follow football!

Evidently!

For England to lose and play again needs Sweden to beat Argentina which is fairly unlikely

Stranger things have happened - for example last Friday.

McGrath,

IMO, Sweden beating Argentina would be even stranger than last Friday (if you can call that strange)

Here's hoping, anyway!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

sounds like the pub landlords giving us duff gen (would prefer "Duff" beer. Doh!)

so should it be "come on England" if not "come on Argentina" - or Argentina or Concertina, I did say I didn't follow football - never understood the Silly Mid on rule

Well it happened - but the music must go on

All events as above stated except Open Mic session

Folk singaround (acoustic) in the Town Hall pub 11.00 am -12.00 noon then we'll all go across the road to the Masonic Hall's "snug" where the music and songs will continue till about 3pm (depending when the pub clears!) then back to Old town Hall till 6pm. evening concert no change 7.30pm to 11.00pm in Old Town Hall Pub

Keep music live!!!

Support Ireland and have both folk and football. Watch the game and listen to the fans sing The Fields of Athenry!!!!

Good luck tomorrow lads...and well done England today.
