Since this has received a couple of positive reviews, I thought I'd put it in its own thread, for posterity. It was written for the recent demise of Shorty, the Mudcat server. Thanks!

To the tune of I'm Believer:

I thought life was only true in the 3D world
Cyberspace was nothing but for fools
Ah, Mudcat was out to get to me
Shorty was dealing songs
Tunes were being written all the time


Then Shorty died
Now I'm a believer
Not a trace
Of doubt in my mind
I'm in mud
I'm a believer I couldn't leave Mudcat if I tried


I thought mud was more or less a river thing
Had no idea it was right there on the screen
Then Shorty came alive
Everyone's back, again
When I needed sunshine I got Mud(cat!)


Ah, Mudcat was out to get to me
Shorty was dealing songs
Tunes were being written all the time


Then Shorty lived!
Now I'm a believer
There's not a tra-a-a-ace
Of doubt in my mind
Well, I'm a believer
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah ah-uh-uh

Of the Cat I could find
I was in mud
Couldn't believe it
Just mourned for the friends I'd left behind

I thought Mudcats more or less a given thing
Seems the less I gave the more I got
Now things have changed
And old Shortys gone
Without Mudcat I've no song
