If its the 'Jimmy Clay' that begins:"As you walk down the street, who will follow you/Six o'clock its getting late/The moon it is rising as the sticky dew/Molds on the ground by the gate/with youir rifle on your shoulder..." its by Patrick Sky & was, I believe, recorded on his 'Reality is Bad Enough' album, late 60's.
